A busy day, again.

Not sure if it was relief that we have the house sorted but we both had a lovely undisturbed night and even Totty slept all through.

Jon left for work and I did some washing and hung it out and then took Totty for a walk, I love walking in the sunshine and it is so much warmer out of our house than in it.

I did another load of washing and then sorted out lots of books that we seem to have accumulated over the past year.

Heather left some books here and I was not sure if she wanted them kept or not so I phoned home to ask her but she was out and I spoke to Kirsty and we had a chat and she said she would text Heather to ask her. Kirsty told me she had seen the new house on my FB page and she said we are too old to have a house like that!!! Don't you just love them. Heather was quick to reply and tell me she does want the books. We are so lucky to be able to communicate so easily these days.

I left to meet Jon at the clinic and we drove up at the same time. We went in to see Michelle, the consultant oncologist, who is very pleased with the way surgery went and she says Jon's cancer was a T3+3 and responded very well to the radiation and chemo and after surgery it was downgraded to a T1+0 which she says is excellent. She talked us through the surgery and gave us a print out of it all very interesting.

We then started to talk about the chemo and he was given two options. The first is tablets like he had with his radiotherapy but a higher dose and would be three weeks on and one week off for a total of 18 weeks. The second option was the same drug as the tablets but with another mixed in. This would mean a stent being put into his chest under general anaesthetic. He would administer it at home over 48 hours but I can't remember for how long. The problem with this one is that there would be side effect which could be significant and long term. She talked about percentages of success etc and both her and Jon worked it out that the tablets would work just as well as the drip or there was only a 5% difference in outcome which apparently is not significant. I worked it out with my heart and just wanted the best and long term.

Well, after a long discussion it was decided on the tablets which Jon is to start on Saturday for three weeks. On the fourth week he will have a blood test and if his blood cells are OK he can start the next three weeks. We chatted to the nurse, too and both agreed that Jon is looking well.

We discussed if Jon could have a drink on these tablets and he told the doctor that so far he has not tried a drink and has not been this drink free since he was 15 which made them laugh. He says he doesn't feel like a drink at the moment anyway and wonders how he is going to manage going out with his friends back in the UK for a few pints and a curry. It was all very light hearted and we had a good laugh but the result was yes, he can drink if he feels like it. We left the clinic and were told we would need to go back every three weeks to see Michelle and Louise, cancer nurse would call him every week to check he is OK and he needs to fill in a dairy daily.

We then drove to the estate agents and signed the lease. They are far more professional than the agent we rented this house from and she told me she comes to inspect the property every three months. So, it is all signed and the bond and rent paid. Yeah!

Jon then went back to work and I popped down to the Red Cross and saw Sharon and took all our pans in that we don't use. I had a chat and then drove home for some lunch. The builders is laying the base with compressed sand and plastic and then the ironwork goes over the top. He appears to be a very good builder. He gave me a copy of the time line for the build. Initially, the owner had told us it was a 'quick two week job'. The time line shows it will take till 4 December before it is finished - somewhat more than two weeks. Not only that, the owner told us we would have a nice new garage to use at the end of the building work. I don't think so unless, as the builder says, we have a 4x4 as there is a huge step up to it and all the path and drive will have to be altered.

I went to help with the books but there wasn't much to do but I did take back our books and jigsaws that Jon has finished.

I got home and Jon called to say he had sorted out the utilities. We were given a form to sign at the agents and she faxes it to a company and they change all your utilities for you and it was so quick and easy. Jon told me that he had also emailed the landlord to tell him we would not be renewing the lease but we haven't heard back.

I went out and told the builder but he said he had had a call from the landlord already.

I brought some boxes home from the book rooms and started to pack all the books up not much but a start.

Jon came home and told me the removal men are booked for next Friday!!!! So, I have to pack up a house and be ready for them. We don't hang around. I am really looking forward to living in a nice, modern, sunny house again.

We had lots of children coming round for 'trick or treat' tonight. I didn't really have much to give them but sorted out some cereal bars and things but all healthy stuff and I am not sure they were impressed. I did find some sweets but then nobody else came after the initial gangs.

We had dinner and watched TV and I am so tired I really must try and get an early night.

WEATHER
Sunny 22 degrees
