It was a lovely sunny day today and for once not cold this morning when we got up.
I managed to get ready for work and get Totty out for a walk before the builders started work so she did at least walk down the path without me having to drag her!
Jon and I left at the same time and left the builders to it. I closed the curtain so Tot couldn't see them and closed the door to the hall so hopefully she didn't bark all day.
it was busy at the shop and we had a good morning. A young man came in and wanted to buy a jacket, shirt and tie that were on a dummy. We told him he should try them on and the jacket fitted but the shirt was small so I went to the back of the shop where the shirts are and found him a nice shirt to match the dark green jacket.
He was there with his sister and he told me that it was coming up to the second anniversary with his girlfriend and as she had never seen him dressed up - he only has jeans - he wanted to surprise her and take her out to dinner. I said it was a lovely idea and she should be very happy he was going to so much trouble.
He then decided he needed some trousers so after a quick look at him I sort of got the idea of the size, quite chunky, and I started to look for some trousers for him. He tried on three pairs and came out to show me each time. Sharon was back and forth and giving her opinion, too. Unfortunately, he took his shoes off to try the trousers on and with him going in and out of the changing room we soon started to smell his feet!!! I have NEVER in all my life smelt anything so terrible. It was all I could do not to gag and Sharon just had to walk away. I eventually said there were no other trousers and to choose one of the pairs I had given him and I quickly walked to the front of the shop.
He said he would look at some shoes first but I didn't stay to help! He eventually came to the desk to pay and the smell was awful. Fortunately, he paid cash as I don't think I would have been able to hold my breath long enough to do a card transaction. He didn't leave the shop them but went looking at household things with his sister but Sharon and I had to go outside for some air, we felt so sick.
Eventually he left and we had to go around and spray the whole shop to try and get rid of the smell. I really don't know how he has managed to keep a girl for two years she must have no sense of smell whatsoever!! Ugh!!!
I left the shop just after one and went into town as I had a few things to buy and I had a hair appointment. My hairdresser, Dana, has just come back from the Cook Islands where she got married. She told me she enjoyed her wedding day but not Rarotonga as it was like a third world country and not much to do and mostly old people there so sounds like Jon and I will have a good time when we get there!!
I think, apart from Fiji, all the S Pacific islands are like this as we found Vanuatu the same but we enjoyed it but we are old and not wanting lots of activity at night.
I went home and had some lunch and the builder was just finishing for the day, they have dug out all the footings and on Monday they are going to pour concrete. He said he will print off a copy of his time line so we know what he is doing and when, he is a very nice man. He told me he is saving to buy a pony for his daughter's fifth birthday.
When I got back I could see the gardener had been and cut all the grass. I had called to tell his father to leave the front as it is not worth it but the message obviously didn't get through. Still, when I got back at least none of the cars were on the grass!
One of the agents called to say a house we liked would allow a dog an would do a two year lease so we are going to see it on Monday but we can't move in till 20 November. Meanwhile, the house we really like is still not decided. If the owner gets the flat he wants then he will go ahead with the rental to us. He will know tomorrow and will give us a call. Hopefully, we will get one or the other. The brand new one is available as from now or at least when he gets the blinds up and dressing room fitted. What will be will be.
Jon didn't come home till gone 4.00 today so he had a long day but is feeling good.
I cooked dinner and it was very nice, pork chops with apple and cider vinegar.
Our neighbours to the left, the one that argues with her husband all the time and I don't speak to much, are having a very noisy party tonight. I think she and her husband are away and her two sons are staying in the house. I hope it calms down at midnight as it is very loud at the minute.
The forecast is good for the weekend and we have no builders so hopefully we can spend some time in the garden.
WEATHER
Sunny and warm 20 degrees
