It was cold first thing but not much frost this morning. I was up and out by 7.30 to get down to Tauranga for my ultrasound scan. The builder wasn't even here.
I had the scan and she said it was all clear. I was relieved as I don't really want an operation but also disappointed as I now need to go back to the doctor to find out what the next step is.
I got home by 8.30 and still no builder. The owner had called and spoke to Jon who told him he was really p***** off with the whole thing. He said we had agreed to having the garage built so can't go back on it now. He offered to let us off with two weeks rent and Jon said the company pay the rent anyway so it would not benefit us but that it was not about money it was the inconvenience of it all. Jon told him he didn't want to talk about it anymore and told him to put it in writing and we got an email later. At the end of the email he said 'it would not be long and we would have a lovely new garage to use!!! As if we care for a few months we have managed the last 11 without one.
Jon was getting ready for work and a friend from Lions called to speak to me about the talk I am doing for her ladies group - a bit like the WI I think it is. We chatted for ages with stops for me to put Bertie on and then to say goodbye to Jon when he left for work. It was lovely chatting to her but next time I think I will go and have a cuppa with her and plan it as I didn't really catch up with myself again. Jean told me we all had to wear a posh hat tonight and posh frock so I now had to think where I could get a hat. I texted Bronwyn but she didn't get back to me till later. I rang Sharon at the Red Cross but she said there were no hats in.
I did some washing and sorted out some magazines and a few things that I can get ready just in case the move happens fast. I got things ready to take to the recycle station and the mattress and cushion to go back to occupational therapy. I called the district nurse about more bags and the cancer clinic to find out what time we need to be there on Monday. I was told it was now Wednesday at 11.40 and they are putting a card in the post.
So, by the time I did get out it was gone 11.00 and still no builder. I went to the OT to take the things back first. I then went on for a coffee. Jon had forgotten his phone so I carried on to the office and took that to him and had a chat with Mike and Lisa while I was there.
I stopped at the Hospice op shop and bought a hat and some flowers to decorate it with just in case I don't get one from Bronwyn.
I then went to the supermarket and got some things I needed for Jon's dinner and the take a plate I was doing for tonight's Lions' meeting.
On my way back I took the recycling and then went to see Bronwyn. I stayed for a cuppa and a chat and it was lovely sitting outside in the sun. The only hat she had was her wedding hat which was a bit too posh and I didn't want to ruin it even though she will probably never wear it again.
I left there worried I had stayed too long and the meat would get hot in the car. I had some magazines and lemons to drop off for Margaret and Sharon so popped round there for five minutes and then home.
I could hardly get my car in as there were so many vehicles in the drive and on the grass. Jon was home and had managed to get his car in thank goodness. I asked the builder when he would need to take our windows out and how long would it take (the whole job we were told would be two weeks). He said it would be the week after next and would take five days off and on!!! This is our bedroom we are talking about. I was not happy. He asked for a garage key as he said he had no power this afternoon as we were out. Usually we plug in a cable through the garage window for him. I told him no that I would prefer to plug it in and leave it out of the window every morning as I don't want them coming in when we are not here.
When I got in Patsy called to tell me that the owner of the house we want couldn't speak to his accountant till tomorrow but thought he would only want to do annual lease and would that be OK. We have agreed to this and hopefully he will re new it as I think that would be our best bet to get out of this house. Then I had a call from one of the other agents about another house and I was trying to find it on Google maps and it was just crazy.
I finally managed to unpack my shopping only to find that my meat was not in the bag. The girl had put it in a separate bag and not put it in my trolley!!!! So I had to go all the way back to Bayfair and the supermarket. I also realised I had not had any lunch so ate a pear!!!
They had put the meat back on the shelf and written it in a book so when I got there the customer service lady told me to go and choose more around the same price. I managed to find the pork chops, chicken and sausages that I had originally bought!! Off home again and it was by now 5.20 and I was supposed to leave around 5.30 and I still had this meal to make.
Fortunately, it was a couscous, bean and sausage salad and got it done and got ready. I decorated my hat and it looked very good. I wore my wedding outfit which made me feel nice and I finally set off at 6.15.
The house we went to is beautiful with lovely views. There is a huge house next door, no, it is a mansion. It has been built four years but only one woman lives there. She is from Korea and her husband can't come and live here yet as he has to look after the mother in Korea who is 96!! They have children who are at university but don't live there. I asked if perhaps we could move in!!
There were some lovely dishes there tonight and I had a spoonful of most of them. Then we had the pudding which were really lovely, too. We all sat chatting and all in all it was a really good night. I took the wedding photos as people had asked me to and it was just what I needed.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
