A visit to the Cancer Clinic

I paid for leaving the pantry door open yesterday as Totty had to go out during the night, well in fact, it was not long after I had fallen asleep. AND when I woke this morning she had done another near the door. I seem to spend my life scrubbing this carpet. She is now on ABSOLUTELY no other food other than her two meal a day as the slightest change had a dire effect on her. I am not sure how much of the food she ate yesterday but it must have been a lot.

I decided not to go to my keep fit class this morning as I thought it would be pushing it a bit to get back and changed and out in time to make Jon's appointment. I was going to go for a long walk on my own instead. i can't walk far now with Totty and she is also very slow.

By the time I had helped sort Bertie out it was 9.30 and we had to leave at 10.35 so I was not going to get my hour done. As it happens, I was glad as I hadn't realised how unfit I have become and walking the route I did, up and down a couple of big hills, the thirty five minutes it took was enough. I got back and then went straight back out with Totty. Still it is a start and I need to try and keep it up. I can fit it into my day easily and around any driving I have to do for Jon.

We went to the clinic and had to wait a little while and we saw the registrar and all he really wanted to say was that they had finished their bit - the radiotherapy - and that they would be handing Jon over to chemo now. They say they achieved a 90% level which is good. He told us that the appointment with Michelle, the Chemo Oncologist, is on 29 October.

We left and went out to have a coffee but Jon was very quiet. We stopped at the supermarket on the way back and then came home. Jon said he was in pain, he had been sitting too much, and took some tablets and went for a rest.

I got on with some housework and hung out the washing. The weather was lovely in the sun but the wind was cold.

Jon got up and I made some lunch and he went down to the office to do some work for the rest of the afternoon.

I did some work on the talk I am going to do for one of the ladies clubs here. I am not sure how I will fit twelve years living in Spain into 20 minutes!!

I helped Jon sort Bertie out again this evening and it is bleeding quite a lot in a small area when he tales the bag off. I think maybe Jon needs to cut the hole smaller now as it has shrunk and maybe the opening is rubbing on it a little. I think we will have to mention it to the nurse when she comes on Thursday probably to take the stitches out!!! Jon is not looking forward to that :-(

I made the dinner, well it was already made and in the freezer so I heated it and did the vegetables and sweet potato. I only just had time to eat it and I had to rush off to pick up Margaret and go to the Avon Christmas night.

It was held at the area managers house and she had decorated it all with the Avon Christmas products and it looked beautiful. We had wine or juice and Christmas nibbles and it was a really lovely evening and I always enjoy chatting to Margaret so we had a good time.

I got back and Jon seemed to manage well and he even unloaded the dishwasher tonight and made my coffee so that is progress.

Hopefully, when I go to bed tonight Totty will let me sleep the whole night without having to get up!!

WEATHER
Sunny but a very chill wind 18 degrees
