Tuesday

I woke up to go to the bathroom around 3.00 just as we had some amazing lightening but not much thunder. the one good thing about Totty being deaf is that she can't hear the thunder and so we don't have her running around barking - every cloud etc!

I was up early and got ready for keep fit. Jon got up a little earlier today and said he had had a good night and was feeling better. Kirsty called and had a chat to Jon, a quick chat to me as I was going out and then again on to Jon. She told us she had had an amazing time on honeymoon and she will get some photos sorted once they have looked through them all.

We had a really good class this morning but it did feel very warm. Viv came at the end of the class and had a chat to everyone and a coffee and people were pleased to see her. She does look well but how she manages to look after five grandchildren every day - eldest 11 and youngest 16 months - I don't know. I hope her daughter appreciates her, I think she deserves a medal.

We left the class and went across to Fraser Cove and sat in a cafe and had a 'proper' coffee and a lovely long catch up. We get on really well, maybe it is because she is a Gemini like me, and I do miss having her around. She goes back to North Shore tomorrow and will be back again maybe at Christmas.

I drove home and Jon told me the district nurse called and was going to take the stitches out from his stoma but he said they are in very deep and it was incredibly painful and she only managed to get a few out. She is now going on holiday but another nurse will come in on Thursday and bring some local anaesthetic to put around the wound and hopefully they can get them out.

I made lunch and my friend Carol (Avon) called to invite me to a Christmas themed night to be held at the area manager's house. Apparently she decorates it will all the Avon Christmas things and then has open house and you go along and have nibbles and look at everything and can buy if you want to. It is next Tuesday so I might ask Margaret if she would like to come along.

I rang the vet and took Totty along at 3.30 as she is still deaf and I needed to make sure she is not in pain and see if her ear is just blocked or she is deaf. The vet said he can see a jelly stuff down one ear and he can't get a good view down the other. He wants to have her in and sedate her and give them a good check with the other vet. We made the appointment for thursday and they will clip her claws at the same time as she hates it if she is not sedated.

As I was waiting at the desk for the appointment Totty was sitting by me feet and giving me the little growling noise that she does when she wants my attention. I looked down and she was sitting with one paw up begging and looking at the box of pigs ears and wagging her tail. It was a bit like sweets at the checkout in the supermarket! I told her 'no' and a man and a woman in the waiting room laughed and told me not to be mean as she looked so cute! Another $2.50 on an ear!!

I got back and Jon was having a nap and so I replied to some emails and tried to log on to the photographer's website to have a look at Kirsty's photos but I don't know her user name, she only gave me her password so I have emailed her to get it so I can have a look.

As I didn't get my tarte tatin made yesterday I still had a block of puff pastry to use so I made a sort of apple turnover with the apples I cooked yesterday and added some cinnamon and with the rest I made some palmiers which are very nice.

We had dinner and the apple turnover was yummy.

We watched an episode of Lewis and then it was bedtime.
