Last night just before I logged off I checked one more time on the house listings and found a house that had potential so I rang first thing and asked them to arrange an appointment which they did for 1.30.
The other house we were due to see at 10.30 didn't happen as the spare keys did not arrive from the owner and the tenants were not in so we have to wait till we can view it.
The builders were here bright and early and got on with putting all the iron base in so a little noisy and I had to carry Totty past them as she would not walk!!
I had a really good spring clean this morning and washed all the back windows, well the ones I can reach, inside and out. I cleaned the kitchen cupboards and did my normal Monday housework. I want to get things more or less ready to move just in case we don't get much notice.
Jon's bottom was sore yesterday and worse today so he decided to work from home as he can stand up and he does actually get more done. He decided he wanted a coffee so he went out for them today and I carried on with my cleaning.
I rang the theatre to ask if we could get out money back for Mary Poppins as I don't think Jon could drive all that way at the moment and then sit for three hours. I had to put it in writing and am waiting to hear. We have booked the hotel and we know we can't get our money back for that so not sure what we will do.
We went over to view the house which looked a bit like a Hansel and Gretel type and had a small swimming pool in the front. From the Google map it looked very nice and in a lovely area. When we arrived the gardener was just having a look around as he was going in to blitz it all as it was neglected. The agent arrived and let us and another lady in. Such a disappointment, it was dirty and old and needed painting, the bathroom was old fashioned and they were in the middle of replacing the basin and putting in a new shower all in white but they were leaving the old pink bath and the separate loo was a bit rubbish, too. Outside was double garage with a double bedroom above but the garage was full of junk at the rear and it was going to be boxed in and the bathroom here was also in a state. Around the side was so much junk and old wood we could not believe it and it was $465 a week. Such a shame as it has the potential to be a lovely house but I really don't think they will get that amount of money for it in the state it is in.
I asked the agent if there were any plans for decorating and she said no. It will be interesting to see how long it is available.
On the way back we went to view the one we should have seen this morning as it was not far away. It is in a lovely quiet cul de sac and from what we could see had lovely views from the back over to the inner harbour, Matakana Island and The Mount. We just have to wait for the keys now. I did call the agent again while we were there and she did tell me we were the preferred tenants so fingers crossed it is nice inside and we can get to see it. It is not available till 20 November.
I got back and then spent the rest of the afternoon searching the various letting agents, I am wasting so much time on this and it is not an easy task. Fortunately, I took a shepherd's pie out of the freezer so no dinner to make.
I started on my ironing and got quite a bit done. We then had dinner and watched some TV.
WEATHER
Warm and sunny 20 degrees.
