I had a little lie in this morning as I could hear some early morning rain and Jon was already downstairs watching the F1 qualifying so we weren't going to go anywhere till the rain stopped and the F1 finished.
I went down and started to cook our English sausages that we had bought yesterday. They were really good, not as good as Newmarket sausages, but compared to Kiwi sausages, really tasty.
After breakfast we took Tot out and just as we did a shower of rain came over. Jon had an umbrella that had been left here in the house but as we got down the road a gust of wind blew it inside out and it broke. I told him to go back home as I didn't want him getting wet and I carried on. It came down hard for about five minutes and then the sun came out and a lovely rainbow.
We went out to the local garden centre for coffee as we were due to go over to see Bianca for the birthday party at 1.30. While we were having our coffee Les called to say she had got the time wrong (she had left the invitation in her car and so did not give it to me on Friday) and the party was at 11.30, it was then 11.15!!! i said we would go over when we were ready.
We finished coffee and went home and I put the chicken into the slow cooker with the rest of the ingredients and we set off to the party.
It was quite difficult when we arrived as it was all young couples and LOTS of children and we felt very out of it all. We chatted for a while and watched while Bianca fed Simone but it was difficult. Eventually, Les came over to chat to us and then some people started to leave and so we felt we could, too. It was nice to be invited but we did feel old.
We got home and the slow cooker was filling the house with food smells and I have to say I didn't like what I smelt as it smelt burned but I checked and it wasn't. the recipe had peanut butter in and salsa but not sure if I liked the smell.
We had lunch and then as Jon was tired, he should not have cut the grass yesterday, we just watched some TV. I mentioned that I didn't like the smell and Jon agreed that it was not appetising. I tasted the casserole and decided it was not nice and we would not enjoy it so I threw it away.
I now had a problem as all the meat was in the freezer and would take too long to defrost. We ended up having some frozen fish in kumara crumbs which was very nice and much better than the chicken. That is one recipe I won't be doing again.
Jon packed his things for tomorrow and we watched some TV. Jon will need to be up early tomorrow as he needs to watch the Grand Prix and the football and he has a hospital appointment at 9.00 and needs to leave for Hamilton by 11.00 - lots to do.
