Waking up this morning and being on my own was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
After my shower I dressed and made a cup of tea and saw that one of the mouse traps was closed and moved from where it was last night. I carefully picked it up and it didn't feel very heavy so I didn't think there was anything inside but I waited till I was in the garden before I opened it. I could see a mouse at the end and thought it was dead - maybe from over eating all the food that had been in there!! I gently tipped it out and it was alive and ran towards me which made me do a little jig in the garden - I hope my neighbours weren't watching! I left it running on the grass and came back inside feeling a little mean as it was cold out there.
I opened all my cards that had arrived over the last few days and the parcel from Heather and Kirsty which had two nice M&S tops in. I also had my mice purse and handbag from Jon and my presents from my sisters.
I had breakfast and Heather called for a chat and told me all about the hen weekend. Shame Kirsty's mother in law and sister in law could not make it. Poor Sam was taken back into hospital on the Friday. I do hope she will be well soon such a worry for her mum.
As we were finishing our conversation I told Heather I was going out for lunch and she suddenly realised it was my birthday and then felt really bad about it. Of course, it was still Tuesday in UK and she wasn't thinking straight. It was quite funny really.
I took Tot out and then finished getting ready and I then went and took some photos on the deck using the timer on my camera - how sad is that!!! On my way out I aw a big bouquet of flowers had been delivered but not sure when as I didn't hear the door and the dog didn't bark. They were from Jon and really lovely. I went down to the shopping centre and bought some nice chocolates for us to have with our after lunch coffee. I also popped in to have a quick coffee as I was a little early to go and pick up Viv and Bronwyn so I read my magazine for a while.
I went to Maungatapu to collect Viv and Bronwyn and then we drove to Tay Street Cafe down by the beach. the other ladies arrived, Ros from keep fit, Diane from aqua aerobics, and Les and Carol from Red Cross. They brought me some lovely presents, earrings, scarf, book, photo frame, plant, flowers, hand cream and some nice lemon, ginger honey drink that you mix either hot or cold. I did very well and they were all so kind to buy them for me.
Lunch was really good and although all these ladies didn't know each other they all got on well and we enjoyed ourselves and didn't stop talking. Lunch was really good, but it always is at this cafe, and I had Thai green curry which was delicious. We had coffee after lunch and we all enjoyed the lovely chocolates.
We finished about 2.30 and I took Viv and Bronwyn home. I am really going to miss Viv when she moves up to Auckland at the weekend to look after her grandchildren while her daughter goes to do a nursing course. I am glad her daughter bought her an iPad for Christmas.
The only post that arrived today was our tickets for Mary Poppins which is coming to Auckland in October and we are going to see it in November all being well.
When I got in Totty had been scratching at one of the doors as the carpet was a little 'rough'!! I opened the door and she went mad sniffing around and trying to get into a cupboard in the hall where Jon keeps his shoes. I have a strong feeling the mouse may have moved back in. clever little blighter. so it will be traps out again tonight and next time I catch him he is going across to the other side of the park to be released!!
I did some hand washing of jumpers and put them on the clothes maiden. I have no idea why I did that today!!
I lit the fire and pottered around and then Jon called and we chatted. He said it had been very warm over in Hamilton today and when he walked around the lake, he has now found out it is 4.5km all the way round, he had to take his jumper off as it was so warm. He hadn't seen the consultant as planned as he was not there today but he told the nurse he was fine and it could wait till next week. He is feeling so well and I just keep thinking it won't last. He said they had a casserole last night and it was OK but he is not enjoying the food over there. Still not long to go now.
I had some crackers and cheese for my dinner and watched TV.
Hopefully my birthday next year will be more normal. I will be 21 x 3!!
Just as well I am going to bed now as I have let the fire go out!!
