I got up and showered early this morning as I had to wash my hair and Kirsty said she might call so I needed to dry it or freeze! I was ready by eight and when I turned the computer on there was an email saying she would call tomorrow so I could have had a lie in!!
We are really feeling the cold at the moment here, not as bad as the South Island, they have LOTS of snow and right down to sea level. I am so glad we live up here.
I baked some muffins to take over to Bronwyn's this morning where I was going for coffee. They were banana, coconut and blueberry flavour and were low fat and not too bad at all. I told Bronwyn they were only 150 calories each and not to feel guilty so she said that's OK then I'll have two!!
We had a nice chat. She is still on crutches but has a moon boot on now until the end of July so she still can't drive and is housebound.
When I got back I made lunch and then it was time to go out to the osteopath to see if she could sort my painful legs out. I know the osteopath as she is the daughter in law of my Avon lady, Carol and she is very nice. I told her that I had been over energetic at the Golden Olympics, especially the hockey! She examined my back and legs and then gave me a lovely back massage followed by a lot of manipulation and I did feel much easier at the end of it. she told me it can go through ACC which means I only have to pay a percentage of the cost, usually about half price. This is a government scheme for treatment due to accident or injury and she felt my hockey game should be covered so I just had to pay 19GBP. She has booked me in for another appointment next week. The thought of the two flights with leg and buttock pain like this is not pleasant so hopefully she can sort me out.
When I got back it was looking sunny so I took Tot out. We had a really cold SW wind blowing today and although it was about 13 degrees it felt so much colder and I was glad to get back and my legs were feeling the effects of the manipulations.
I noticed an orange had fallen from my neighbour's tree and rolled down our drive so I went to pick it up and saw there were some quite big oranges ready on the tree so picked some along with some lemons. The house is going on the market and her family live in Auckland and it is such a shame to let the fruit go to waste like all the persimmons from the other garden that the birds have eaten!! I tried one of the oranges when I got in and it was so sweet.
I spent the afternoon doing my ironing and watching the tennis.
Jon called and told me it had not been good weather in Hamilton and he had been caught in a heavy shower when walking round the lake. He had a coat on but said his trousers were wet. He saw the consultant radiologist today, Hermann. He told Jon he was 'remarkable' in that he was able to walk around the lake every day and also walk to and from the hospital for his treatments. He said he is very pleased with him and won't see him again until after he has had his surgery which is all very positive.
We both still worry that he is not taking enough of the chemo tablets even though it says three tablets twice a day on the box and we have checked with the doctor. It worries us as he has not had any of the side effects and although he already has enough tablets to finish off the course he still has one repeat prescription to collect! We think the doctor must have miscalculated or the pharmacy have given too many in each box or something. We are happy he has not been feeling bad but it does make us think!!! I am going to call the nurse tomorrow anyway to tell her we have enough and I will ask her.
I had my dinner and then fell asleep in the chair which annoyed me as I will find it difficult to go to sleep when I go to bed. I was feeling really tired and was going to make sure I had an early night as I stay up far too late when Jon is not here.
