As I was just about to go to bed last night we had a power cut. Fortunately, I have a torch in the bedside table drawer and so I turned off the lights, I didn't want to be woken up when they came back on, and then I managed to take my lens out and clean my teeth and get undressed. I got to bed and was just about to turn out the torch and saw the clock flashing. I tried the bedside light and it came on!!! I am not sure how long I was struggling in the dark and it was back on!!
Another cold night but thanks to my bed socks and hot water bottle I was very cosy. The frost was not so bad this morning.
I had my day planned. I knew Heather was going to call and I thought I would then call my friend in Spain, then make a cake for my friend Bronwyn and take over Viv's birthday card and then go and buy Jon's birthday presents and end up doing my shopping. Oh and take Totty out.
Unfortunately, it didn't work out like that. Heather phoned and talked a long time and then Kirsty phoned and then just as I put the phone down Bronwyn phoned to ask if I could take her into Tauranga as she wanted to buy something and Peter didn't feel like going in. I told her I was just about to make a cake but would call her when I was ready. I started to get out all the ingredients and also to have my breakfast when I noticed what looked like mouse droppings in my cereal!!! I then went and moved all the cereal boxes in the pantry and found more droppings and also in all the boxes even my English Weetabix and Shredded Wheat!!!! I had to throw it all away and I will have to buy more plastic containers.
By the time I had cleaned it all up it was to late to make the cake so I just got ready and went to pick Bronwyn up. We went into Tauranga and she bought what she wanted and then we went for a coffee. I didn't want lunch as I had not long had some toast. We had a walk around the shops looking for a top for me to go with a skirt but didn't find anything.
I drove her home and said I needed to go and buy Jon's presents at Bayfair and she asked if she could come with me so i said OK. she is missing being able to get out but only has another week or so before she has the plaster off her leg.
We got to Bayfair and I bought what I needed and then I took her home.
I then went to see Viv and sat chatting longer than I should so by the time I got home it was 4.30 and no cake made.
I had a sandwich and then lit the fire and did a few jobs.
Jon called and he says he is fine but is still having a bout of diarrhoea every afternoon but he is taking the tablets which stop it. His treatment is at 8.45 tomorrow so hopefully he will be back early but is going into the office.
I bought a new mixer and decided to make a cake which turned out OK but I think the bowl was too cold. I don't think it is a good idea to bake at night in this house as everything is too cold.
By the time I tidied up it was nearly 9.00. I had some cheese straws and some dip for my dinner - naughty me.
So not the most productive of days but never mind. Bedtime now.
