A lovely lunch

Got up this morning and after breakfast I had a phone call from Jane and we chatted for an hour. It was a lovely sunny day again.

Bronwyn called to say she had booked a table for lunch at 12.30.

I took Tot out and on the way in I went and picked some persimmons from my neighbours tree which is full of them and the birds are eating them so I thought I would have a few. They are really big ones but still a bit hard. I then lost a few hours as it was soon time to get ready to go and meet Bronwyn and Peter. It was nice going back to our old street and it felt like home!!

We drove out to Te Puna and went to a cafe that is owned by a couple from Yorkshire. They are celebrating their first anniversary at the cafe and had Yorkshire dishes on the menu. We all chose giant Yorkshire pudding with beef, gravy and horseradish and a glass of wine.

We were sat in a nice sunny spot and it was just as well we had booked as it was full and very busy.

When our meals came the puddings were the size of the dinner plate and piled with beef and gravy and very, very good. It was a lovely lunch and we had a good time. Peter and Bronwyn lived in Singapore for a while and we are never short of things to talk about usually to do with travel, food and wine!!

We left and went back to their house and had a cup of tea and I sat talking and looking at old and new photographs of their family. Peter is from Perth and Bronwyn is a Kiwi. Peter also has had bowel cancer for the last 14 years or so and at one time was very ill but is now doing really well.

I finally went home and fed Tot who was sulking. I did a bit of housework and lit the fire. I only had a snack as I was full from my lunch.

Jon called and he seemed really bright. I think it might have something to do with the fact that it is Friday tomorrow. His treatment was early today and so he walked back and stopped for a coffee on the way and then did some work. He went into Hamilton for lunch as he wanted to try Burger Fuel but it has closed down so he went to another place we have been to a few times and he said he had a really good lunch. He bought a sandwich for his dinner as he didn't feel he would need another big meal. They have a big bowl of fruit at the Lodge and it is always full with a nice variety and he said he eats a lot from there. His treatment is around 11.00 tomorrow and he said he will go into the office before coming home tomorrow as he has a few things to do.

I made some date scones this evening and a fruit cake. I will take some over to Bronwyn tomorrow as she usually bakes cakes but as her leg is in plaster, and she still has another two weeks before it comes off, I thought I give her some.

I watched some TV and then went to bed.

WEATHER
