It was a nice bright start to the day but it did cloud over later.
The first job I did was marzipan my Christmas cake!! I know it is late but I just haven't got round to it and we had so much other stuff to eat! I decided I would ice it tomorrow and make it into a 34th anniversary cake for us!
I spent the rest of the morning doing some odd jobs around the house and was just cleaning the bathrooms when we had a downpour. The bedroom window was open and the rain came in and soaked the blinds so I started to dry them. That was a bad move as once you start a job like that you have to carry on! I hate cleaning Venetian blinds and will never ever have them in any house I own. It is just so difficult to clean them and then once you finish you look at the windows and they are all marked so you have to clean them, too. We have 11 blinds in this house and one is really huge. We have another house inspection next week so I had better get cracking.
I had to finish my cleaning as I had a dental appointment. I checked my phone before I left and noticed a text message. I put my phone on silent yesterday at the cinema and didn't change it! It was from Les telling me that Bianca had a baby boy last night and all is well. Good news for them all.
I went to the dentist and had a check up and clean and polish and then went to buy a baby card and a little suit for the new boy. Bianca has a girl so no passing down.
I got home in time to have some lunch before going out to pick Viv and Margaret up to go to see Philomena.
We arrived in plenty of time and waited at the front of the queue to make sure we got the seats we wanted. Just as well we did as the queue grew very quickly but we got in and got the back row which we like.
The film was really good and there was not dry eye in the place. I do hope she gets an award for it.
We drove home and I had a cup of tea and Jon soon arrived home.
We had dinner and watched TV. We had a very big storm tonight. The Bay has been under storm watch all day and it looked like we might have missed them but this one came over the hills and it was spectacular. The views from where we are were amazing but I couldn't get a good photo of the lightening. Totty didn't like it at all. It is only the second storm we have had since we have lived here. There have been a few rumbles but nothing much. There was a big one when we were in China and Heather had to cope with Totty but I had that pleasure tonight.
Time for bed now. Today it is five years since we arrived in NZ and our lives have changed forever. Who would have thought it.
WEATHER
Sunny spells with the odd shower 23 degrees
