The lady on the TV said today would be a lovely beach day in Tauranga. Well, she got that wrong! It was really cold this morning and very overcast but it did get better through the day but certainly not a beach day!
I made breakfast for Jon and then I decided to check out what we could look forward to seeing if we choose to come home via San Francisco. It is not a big city but it looks like we could find enough to keep us busy for three or four days! Still need to research this.
We went out for coffee and then to buy Jon a new water glass to take to work as I broke his last week. While we were in the shop, which has never-ending sales, we saw a nice suitcase to buy to replace the one we left in UK as we will need four to come home. We also bought a small cabin case for me as all I have is a soft bag and we are going to need as much space as we can get or we will be very fed up with the clothes we have until the container arrives.
We went to the supermarket and bought a few things and then went home for lunch.
This afternoon we had a bit of a clear out sorting cupboards and drawers and I now have a huge bag of clothes to go to the Red Cross much to Jon's delight. It is amazing to see how much stuff we have accumulated over the last five years and I thought we had a good sort out before we moved in November 2012!
I did feel very nostalgic sorting out my basket of pamphlets on all the attractions and places we have been to. There is no way I can bring them all back to the UK so they had to go. Gosh, we have covered some miles!
Jon made a cup of tea and we had some cake and then carried on with the sorting. We have a house inspection this coming Thursday so I don't want things to 'look' like we are moving or they might tell us to go before we are ready.
We had some really nice fish for dinner tonight, Mirror Dory. I have never seen this in the shops till yesterday and it is a flat fish like plaice. It has a very silver skin which probably gives it the name. I just dipped it in egg and flour and fried it in oil adding a knob of butter and a squeeze of lemon at the end of cooking and it was very good. The amazing thing is it was sooooo cheap! Two fillets cost me $4.50. Not sure why it is so cheap but I will buy it again.
We watched Coronation Street, we are up to Frank's murder but we only have one two hour show so we record it. Very exciting but I do know who does it.
Off to bed now to have an early night so tired doing nothing!!
WEATHER
Cloudy and windy 23 degrees.
