Friday

I was woken by the phone this morning and although it is on Jon's side he appears not to hear it so I had to jump out of bed to answer it. A call for him from Australia. I had to tell a little white lie and say he was in the shower as he was not in a state to talk. They said they would call back in ten minutes lol!

We had a few calls to the people who have our furniture this morning as the invoice does not seem to add up to the amount quoted. We had to pay it or we would not get our things on Monday and we will have to sort it out later. I am going to have a busy weekend getting the house ready to take all our stuff. I have put some furniture on a selling page on Facebook just to get rid of it but no joy so far. I will have to call one of the charity shops to see if they want it.

We did intend to go to Cambridge as we needed to get cash from the bank to pay for some work we have had done. Unfortunately, our bank is in Guildford and our nearest branch is Cambridge. Jon wasn't in the mood to drive so far so we will just carry on getting two hundred pounds a day from the cash machine!!

We went to Costa for a coffee and rang Jane to see what time she wanted us to go over and she told us when we were ready. We bought a few things for lunch and then back home to hang out the washing before heading over to Soham.

Riley had wanted a  feed every two hours through the night so they had had a broken night but they all looked well but Riley is still quite yellow. They are concerned they don't make him too hot but he would not settle so I put a little blanket on him and he did calm down. It is very difficult when it is so hot for us to know how hot to keep a baby.

We had some lunch but then Riley woke again and so Jane went to feed him, she is doing really well with feeding considering she didn't want to.

The midwife came and checked him over and tested him on a scale for jaundice and she said he was just about on the line so to be on the safe side she rang the hospital and they said to bring him in to put him in one of the light cots. She also thought he might be tongue tied so Jane needs to keep an eye on him for that.

Riley settled very well after his feed and Jon was happy to hold him which he did for quite some time while they got themselves organised for an overnight stay at the hospital. I took him up to get changed for the third time today and after protesting quite a lot he was ready. There is certainly nothing wrong with his lungs!

The next step was getting him into the car seat. Poor little things they really don't look comfortable in them. They left for the hospital and we went home but got caught up in the race traffic.

We had a cup of tea and then I brought all my washing in before going over to borrow a vacuum cleaner from Mary. The tube on mine has a hole in and the replacement from Dyson has not arrived yet although there is a parcel waiting to be collected at the post office.

I cooked dinner for Jon and I, Heather is staying with her friend in Cambridge tonight.

I was very worried about Riley and how he was getting on and sent a text to Jane. She called me a few minutes later to say they were being allowed home. After blood tests it was decided he was OK. She will have a visit from someone tomorrow to check on him and has to feed him more often. He needs to wake up and take his feeds and not be a lazy boy! So relieved he is OK and they are going home. Jane was not looking forward to a hospital bed again.

We took the dog for a walk after dinner and then watched the football.

WEATHER
Sunny and very warm, car said 27 degrees!
