My back was really sore this morning but we had decided to go out and being stubborn I still decided to go!
Flatford Mill is only about an hour's drive but the pain I felt was so bad and I wished I had stayed home and at one point thought of asking Jon to turn back but as we were on the A14 it is a straight road so we went on.
We stopped for a coffee and I managed to get out of the car and into Starbucks but it was extremely painful and the coffee was not very good so I wish I had stayed in the car. It is the lifting of my left leg into the car that is the most painful but once I am on my feet it is not as bad.
Ten minutes later and we arrived at Flatford Mill. I have always wanted to visit this place as I had a copy of one of John Constable's paintings of the mill and it is every bit as beautiful.
The site is run by the National Trust and Kirsty and James had said they would buy us a subscription for out Christmas present so we joined and got our car stickers and welcome pack and Kirsty will pay us later.
We had a very slow walk down to the RSPB garden which has only been there for about three years and it is very nice with lots of birds and butterflies.
We then had a walk along the river and took some photos of the mill. I will need to come again when my back is OK as there are some very nice walks to go on.
We went into the tea shop and had lunch which was OK but next time I think we will bring a picnic.
We then tried an ice cream which was supposed to be 'prize winning' Hmm not very good at all.
I had then had enough so we got in the car to drive home. We went across country and passed through some lovely villages with lots of lovely country pubs and lots of thatched cottages. Took more than an hour but better than the main road.
We stopped in Waitrose to buy some fish for dinner and then went home for a cuppa. Heather has gone to London to stay with her friend.
Kirsty rang to say she was coming over to collect something and so when she arrived I asked her if she wanted to stay for dinner which she did and as it was so hot we ate outside and listened to the Beachboys who were playing at the racecourse.
Kirsty left and it started to rain a little and we could hear thunder as had been forecast.
We went to bed and I was woken at 3.30 by thunder and the dog growling so I got up to let her out and just as I was about to open the door we had a bug flash of lightening and thunder. I didn't want her to start running round the garden barking as with my bad back there was no way I could catch her so I put her lead on and let her out of the front door to do her wee and fortunately no thunder while she was out.
We got back to bed and the thunder rumbled around and was loud and then passed over.
My back was no better in the morning so I think I am going to have to go to see an osteopath next week.
We went out for a coffee and then did some shopping as Jane and Jason, Kirsty and James are all coming for a bbq. There was another thunderstorm while we were out and it is very humid.
We got home and I was putting the shopping away and Jane rang to say they were in town and would be round shortly. I quickly did my housework and got ready for them.
Jon was doing some work in the garden and once Jane arrived we just sat and chatted and I held Riley as I couldn't do much else with a bad back!
I rang my friend Mary to ask if she wanted to come round as she has been trying to get over to see Jane. She came round and was happy to do so as it got her out of doing her ironing!
It was gone 6.00 and Kirsty and James said they were on their way so Jon started to cook which was a bit silly really as it was steak - a 2lbs piece - which doesn't take long to cook. They were a bit late and I did ask them to get me some balsamic vinegar on the way so of course by the time they got here the steak was rather overcooked. I think Jon needs to stress less when he cooks a bbq as it is supposed to be a relaxed way of eating!!
We did have a lovely evening and were able to sit outside and everyone was there till gone 11.00 and Riley was a little angel.
Another thunderstorm and up again with the dog and she took a long time to settle as it was a bigger storm so I was tired on Sunday morning.
I cooked Jon a proper breakfast and we ate outside. I am really loving the hot weather. Just a shame by back is no better I have so much decorating to do but I can't even think about it at the moment.
We didn't go out for a coffee as I was sorting stuff out and Jon was doing things in the office so we had a day at home 'sorting'.
I spent most of my time sorting out my clothes at last and getting the small bedroom straight so I can use it as a dressing room. The hamster lives in this room, for the moment, and she was out of her bed and looking very sick and could not walk. she was trying to drink but couldn't seem to get to her water bottle so I squeezed the bottle and she had a good drink from the floor of the cage. I know she is old and she could die but seeing her suffering was horrible. She eventually went back to her bed and I got my room finished.
I had taken a small chicken breast out of the freezer for our dinner and then remembered I had lamb steaks which I had bought to do a korma recipe with so had to make that as well or the lamb would be off by Monday. So I was rushing around to get it done.
Heather came home from Jane's and I told her Lexi was not well and we checked on her and I put a small dish of water in the cage so she can drink it easier. We'll see how she is in the morning and I will take her to the vet.
WEATHER
