Another busy day

I had a good night's sleep last night now that the worry of labour is over!

I went into the shower and there was no hot water. I asked Heather if she had a hot shower and she said it had run out. Hmm what do I do? I went downstairs and checked that the water was on then looked at the pump switch which was turned off. I have no idea who did it or why. I then checked the back boiler and saw that the pilot light was flashing. I can't remember the last time I had to light the pilot night but managed to dig up the correct combination from the depths of my mind and it worked.

I had to wait for the water to heat so did a few jobs around the house and then had a chat to my friend Mary about Jane and the baby.

Finally had my shower and then started the preparation for painting the skirting in the spare room. I had also posted a carpet cleaner on FB and a lady liked it and said she would come round at 12 and she did and bought it. Something else gone from the garage.

The carpet fitter arrived at the same time and measured the bedroom and I chose a carpet and he will come to fit it tomorrow afternoon!

I thought I had better go and see Rene as I haven't had time since she came home. I went in her back door and she was just sitting in the chair. The first things she said was 'Do you know Fran died' Bless her all the visits I made to the hospital and she doesn't remember and is so confused with time. She told me the funeral will not be for at least another two weeks, how awful.

I sat chatting to her and showed her a photo of the baby. Jane wants to put the first one on so I can't put any on yet. I am not sure how she is going to manage but we shall just have to wait and see.

I got back and had a quick bite to eat and then started painting. I had a few texts from Jane saying they could not come home yet and then she called me and told me that he has a tiny hole in his heart and they had done an echo and said they think it will close on its own but they want to see him feeding better before she can go. She was not happy about that but the baby is the priority. She is feeling very sore and only got two hours sleep last night. There is a lady on the ward who delivered a few days ago at 26 weeks and her baby is very tiny and in special care. Jane said every time a baby cried she said shut up but then said she was talking in her sleep. Not very nice of her but then again it is not nice to be with all the babies and not have her own. She is from Basildon and does not drive so can't some and go every day.

I carried on painting and managed to get all the gloss done so hopefully it will be dry for tomorrow.

I kept sending texts to Jane as I did not know if I should go in and visit as she said she might be able to leave. Eventually, I had a text to say they had to wait a little longer so I got ready and went in. Heather went in straight from work as she is not far. Kirsty was going to go in but as we didn't know if she was coming home did not want to hang around so went home and will see her tomorrow.

When I arrived it was lovely to see him dressed in normal clothes and Heather was holding him and he looked so relaxed. He was like that for most of the visit. I had lovely cuddles with him and although he is a bit battered and bruised he looks fine. Jane had to try and feed him again at 7.00 and if he fed they could come home.

He eventually woke up and had filled his nappy so Jason changed him, that is the third nappy today he has changed and he is doing really well with him especially as they are the really messy nappies now.

Jane tried to feed him and he was sucking but not well and then getting a little frustrated. A nurse came in and suggested she lie on her side to try and that worked and he fed really well for a good twenty minutes. Gone are the days of two minutes each side! How silly was that when I think about it!

Jason asked me if I was worried yesterday when they said they would take Jane to theatre and I said no as I felt they were all doing really well and had everything under control. He told me he could not look at me as if he had seen I was worried he would have lost it. Bless him I had not realised. He said he was so relieved when he heard him cry.

The bell rang and we had to leave and hopefully that will be our last visit there.

Heather and I stopped off at Tesco to buy some dinner and then went home to eat.

Another tiring day. We had a text to say Jane could come home at 10.00!!! Who would have thought they would discharge a mother and baby at 10.00 at night???

Hopefully, she can get some proper sleep tonight and feel better tomorrow. A name has been chosen but she will need to tell Kirsty and Jason's family before she tells anyone else.

Jon will be home tomorrow and be able to meet the little man.

WEATHER
Warm and sunny 21 degrees
