Tuesday/Wednesday

We woke to a very windy day and quite cold, J & J were so lucky with the weather.

We went across to the airport for breakfast and I had muesli and rhubarb compote with yogurt and honey but it was such a big dish there was no way I could finish it.

We checked out and then drove into Auckland and Jon dropped me off in the centre before he went to the port for his meeting. I had a look around Westfield and then went across to the harbour area for a coffee and read the paper. I then went back to see if I could get in to see the film at the rugby ball again but it was not open till 12.00 so I went back to look around the shops.

I bought a magazine and sat reading in a sunny spot and Jon called to say he was finished so I went to meet him and we set off home through some heavy showers and strong wind.

We stopped at the same place we stopped for coffee yesterday and had lunch. We finally arrived home about 4.00.

Jon went to the gym later and Heather and I took Tot for a walk. I had taken some fish out of the freezer for dinner but it smelt awful so we ended up phoning Domino's for a pizza.

Unfortunately, we had an email from Seleena, our landlady, and she told us she needs to put the house on the market as she is not well and needs to sell so she can take things easy. This is a big blow to us but at the back of my mind I think I knew it would happen before our time was up here. Not sure what we will do as furnished houses that will allow a dog are few and far between not to mention the fact that we really like it here. Watch this space. Our contract runs till 10 January anyway so we have a bit of time. However, once houses go on the market and are sold things move quickly, about six weeks. So all bad timing as Malcolm will be here on holiday and Heather will be getting ready to go back to UK. Never mind not worth worrying about till we can look into things.

WEATHER
Overcast, windy and showers 16 degrees

Well we managed to get away by 9.25 after Heather saying a very emotional goodbye to Jane.

The drive to Auckland was fine and after a stop at the Pukekos Nest for a coffee we carried on through some heavy rain but arrived safe and sound and parked near the port.

We walked along to the World Cup Party Central and had a look around and were very impressed with what we saw, lots of hands on things to do, a good film about NZ on a huge screen, lots of tasty food to buy and all in all we thought a very good show.

We decided to go along to the Viaduct area of Auckland for some lunch, which was good, and we then went back to see the film in the giant 'rugby ball' which was really good and much better than I thought NZ would have put on!!!

By now it was time to head out to the hotel at the airport and we arrived and checked in and left J & J to shower and we went down to the bar for a cup of tea.

We all went across to the airport to check in which was all done quickly and then we went upstairs to the waiting area and J & J had a sandwich and we had a drink. They finally went through immigration at 7.30. It was not hard to see them leave as they are very happy together and are looking forward to getting back to see their kitten.

Jon and I went back to the hotel and had dinner and then went up to our room.

WEATHER
A few showers with sunny spells 16 degrees
