I went off to my swimming class this morning for the first time in about three weeks. Not a good day as my legs are really sore from keep fit yesterday. Never mind pain is good with exercise, it means I did some work.
Had a good class and then sat with Diane and Carol for a coffee and a chat. I then went to do some supermarket shopping for when we are away, beans, past, sauces etc.
I got home just in time for lunch with Jon and Heather. Jon checked his email and we have another from Seleena saying we can't leave before the end of the lease as we will have to pay the rent if we do. She said she wouldn't mind us going the week before Christmas as then she could spend Christmas here. Who wants to move into a new house the week before Christmas. If she sells it before 10 Jan she said we can stay here till then as it is our contract. This is going to make things difficult for us as finding a house around that time is difficult as many are let for the summer. We would have preferred to start looking now so that we can have a good look and not be rushed. It seems to me she has everything in her favour. It is a shame how things can fall apart so fast. We have been really good tenants and now she could do with being a little more flexible. I have just had all the carpets cleaned and the shower glass treated, too. Also Malcolm will be here on holiday on 6 Jan and Heather will be packing up to go home so all in all not good.
I am also not impressed by the way they sell houses here. They have 'open house' once a week at a set time and then anyone who sees the sign can come in and look around. We, and the dog, will have to get out for that time and the agent gets everyone to sign a book with their details and then the people look around. This means they have free access to our house so we would have to put everything away as you never know who will come through the door and if they give the correct name and address details. So we would have to pack jewellery away and any small items that could be 'walked off' with. It also means we will be tied to the house for one day every weekend which, if they give us an early open house won't be bad but if it is in the afternoon a real pain not to mention the constant keeping the house clean and tidy.
We have the added problem of going away to China next week and I don't want them to do and open house with only Heather here. We are then away for the next two weekends so the owner is not going to be happy but I am not going to have them coming in when we are away so not sure what is going to happen. I have to talk to the agent when she comes on Friday.
I have been looking at houses and there are a few around but as we can't move till January I don't think they will be around then. Looks like we are going to end up in a place that we don't want to be just because it is the only place around. I just hope Jon's boss comes back and says he will buy it but I suppose what will be will be and it is not much use getting in a state about things. I have wasted far too much time on it already when I should be thinking about what I am going to take to China and getting some practice with my chopsticks!!!
