It was a really early start for me today getting up at 5.30 and I left for the airport at 6.15. I was surprised how busy the airport was but then there were three flight going out, mostly business men, to Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland but I just had time for a coffee.
The flight was good and very smooth and I arrived at 7.20 and Jane's flight was due in at 8.20 so I had another cup of coffee and then sat and waited. I had forgotten my mobile as I used it as an alarm and left it by the bed so I had to call home to tell them not to call me and I used my first payphone in NZ - it hasn't taken me long!
I saw the Argentinian rugby team arrive while I was waiting. Eventually the London flight passengers started to filter through but it seemed to take forever and I am sure they must have been the last. I had got to the stage where I was thinking I wouldn't even recognise them!!
I had told Jane to turn left as she came through as that is where you can check your luggage through for a domestic flight and then just walk across to the terminal without having to carry your bags. Of course, they turned right. I stood up and shouted to them and took a photo as she turned round and she was very surprised and pleased to see me.
After checking the bags in we walked across to domestics and had another coffee (I thought I would end the day looking like a coffee and nothing to eat). Our flight was ten minutes late but eventually it was called and both Jane and Jason looked very surprised to see how small the plane was.
We took off and were told it would be bumpy coming in to Tauranga and he was not wrong! It was extremely bumpy. He took us a long way out over the sea and when we came in to land I could see Maungatapu and where we live very clearly which is the first time ever.
It was lovely to see Heather there so excited waiting with Jon and she gave Jane a big hug. We got the cases and went off to the Classic Flyer Cafe and had another coffee and a chat and then ordered lunch. Jon and Heather had to go back to work at 1.00 so we came home.
After unpacking and having a shower J & J felt better and we sat chatting and then Jane brought all the 'goodies' up and there were many. Yum Cadbury chocolate!
Jon and Heather came home and we took Tot out for a walk. Heather went to play her netball game and I got on with dinner as Jane was going downhill fast.
After dinner Jane went to bed and heather came home and I helped her make sausage rolls for a lunch they are having at work tomorrow. Jason managed to stay up a bit longer as he had slept on the plane.
They can have a quiet morning tomorrow as I will go to the shop.
I am very tired tonight, I wonder why??
