Got down to the nitty gritty and did the ironing this afternoon!
When Jon came home he found a beautiful flower arrangement on the step. It was from my friends Mary and Roger and is really lovely (I will upload a photo if blogger will let me) with red roses, yellow daisy like flowers, which I can't remember the names, gladioli and a blue flower I have never seen before along with some lovely big green leaves and Rosemary so pretty and unusual. We went out for a walk when Jon had changed. I think I might get myself a reputation for being a bit loopy. Everyone I see when I am out I smile at and say "Hello". I have only had smiles and hellos in return so that is OK. Our walk took us in the opposite direction to the park and we both agree this looks very much like walking along a river estuary in Cornwall. The tide was in and looking across to Welcome Bay it was really beautiful. It is very clean and tidy and lots of the pathways are lined with blue hydrangeas and blue and white agapanthus that apparently "grow like weeds" so Mark told me. We walked round to the local shops where we found a pub, a pharmacy, a post office, estate agents, hairdresser, general store, florists and a Chinese takeaway/fish and chip shop. You can get a "battered mussel" and chips for $3.20. (I think it is about £1.20p).Cheap if you like battered mussels! We will try it one night. The takeaway that is not the battered mussel. No cod and chips though only hoki, dory or terakihi???
We walked back home passing a house down the road from ours that is a nail and beauty salon so I might pop in there one day and get my nails done and see what I can find out about the locals.
We got back home and had a beer followed by some pizza and salad then watched some TV - Coronation Street is up to David Platt driving into the canal at Sarah's wedding and Rosie having a fling with John so they are way behind - before going to bed. Another day oveer.
