Friday was a stay at home day, apart from Totty walks. I was busy doing my chores. The house is very modern and nice but if I'm not careful I could become a slave to the taps and the stainless steel! I find myself polishing them! I know, I haven't got enough to do! It was really hot today - the hottest we have had. It was 29 degrees in the living room, no wonder Totty goes into our bedroom to lie down I should have done that, too instead I decided to have an hour of sunbathing and was like a wet rag at the end of it. I'll leave the sunbathing to the beach in future.
I phoned Pat and Phil today (they are the couple we met in the park having fish and chips last week) I am going to have tea with them next Wednesday.
When I was hanging my washing out I had a chat to Pat across the fence, she is the retired head teacher and knows so much about NZ and I really enjoyed out chat. She loves her garden and it is really pretty.
The BBQ is off this Saturday as Peter and Bronwyn Anne have taken out an old wisteria and are re doing their patio and so would like to get that sorted out first. BA is leaving Peter to it and going to see her daughter in Auckland.
Our neighbours came back from their camping trip today. They had a lovely time and they all look well though one child has a tummy bug and another an ear infection! Children are the same the world over.
We took Totty to the park this evening and I don't know if it was because the tide was out - so no jet skis or boats could be used - but there was nobody there and she had a lovely time chasing the gulls on the beach, which she has absolutely no chance of catching, and Jon and I sat looking across Welcome Bay and I thought how lucky we are! I miss the girls and my friends but this really is a lovely spot and we should make the most of our time here.
We tried a different chip shop this week for our fish and chips and although the fish was excellent - terkihi - the chips were not as good as last week they were frozen and not real potato so it's back to what we know next week. Ooh but I would have killed for some mushy peas to go with it!
Totty has been itching a lot and I found a flea on her. She was supposed to have been treated before she came out by the vet so I don't understand how she can have got fleas so soon! A visit to the vet tomorrow!
At last the temperature has dropped and we can go to bed!
