Best Laid Plans

Just as Jon came home it got very cloudy and started to rain and there was thunder in the distance but we set off as it looked clear over at the Mount. By the time we got there the storm was over us and the lightening was amazing not to mention the rain - just like a typical English summer's day! We had a drive around and I really liked it over there. It is so busy with lots going on.

As it wasn't worth getting out for a walk we did what we seem to have done a lot recently and had a trip to the supermarket. I have come to the conclusion that we are terribly spoilt in the UK and probably, Spain and France too for the choice we have in the supermarkets. Over here the quality of the food is quite poor with lots of it coming from Australia. I have found Marmite but in a different jar so not sure if it is the same. The cuts of meat are different, too the chicken looks corn fed with yellow skin but it is chopped into quite small pieces. I think it is going to be a case of trial and error and I won't be holding any dinner parties for sometime!

It is very nice having electric garage doors as we didn't get a drop of rain on us getting back to the house. The storm went on until past nine o'clock.

The spaghetti sauce was a hit and we have enough for another meal next week. I am having a bit of trouble catering for just the two of us!

All those Sky programmes and nothing on TV to watch so we listened to the radio. There is a particularly good station called Solid Gold and plays mostly 60s and 70s English music - I haven't been able to get onto Radio 2 yet on the Internet. And so another day ends.
