I am a few days behind now so this will just be an outline of what has been happening.
We were up early ready for the men at 7.30 but they didn't get here till gone 8.00. Once here they didn't stop. They emptied the downstairs and I managed to get all the floors mopped before they wanted to pack my bucket!
Jon and I were at a stage with nothing to do so we decided to go off for a coffee just as the man arrived to collect his car so a quick handover and we were down to one car!
Went to our favourite place for a coffee then back to the house where the boys were now stuck into the upstairs and all the clothes!
I asked one of the guys if this was a big job and he said average but they were restricted on time which is shy they were rushing. I asked why and he said they had go get it all packed into the container as it was due down at the port at 4.00 to sail tonight! Wow, I thought it would be sitting around for a week or so. Good news and a really good job.
They finished just after one and as the rain started and as the people from the charity arrived to collect the fridge, washing machine and desk. One of the guys, who is a social worker and works in connection with Homes of Hope, was from Mexico and so we had a little chat in Spanish.
The house was now pretty much empty apart from the TV and Sanje was coming after 3.00 so I made our lunch as best I could with only a plastic knife. We had some nice egg mayo sandwiches and a bag of crisps, a ginger beer and the only place to sit was the steps leading down to the lounge but I needed to sit!
The carpet cleaner arrived and I didn't much like him as he messed up my clean floors by tramping around in his trainers and he smelt very strongly of cigarettes. It took him 25 minutes and he charged me $100 what a rip off but the agent needed to see an invoice!
He said he would clean the floor but he just swished a towel over it and left it a real mess. He left a card but I threw it away as I would not recceommend him.
Sanje an Kuldeep arrived for the TV and I gave her my vacuumed cleaner. We did intend to give it to Red Cross but we were having trouble fitting everything in our little car! She works at a bakery and had a huge chocolate cake in the car and told me to take some as it was freshly made today. It looked scrummy.
Once they left we locked up and drove to the agent to return the keys and our bond form then we set off to Carol's. I said to Jon isn't it nice you don't have to worry about forgetting anything when the house is empty and he agreed.
We got stuck in a bit of a traffic jam and I was thinking about my cuppa and the chocolate cake and suddenly remembered the food I had in the larder for Carol! Oops!
Thank goodness for the traffic or we would have been halfway across the bridge! I did a quick U turn and headed back to the agent.
Jon went in to get the key and said to the receptionist 'we've changed our minds'! She just looked at him shocked!
Back to the house to get the food and they told us to leave the keys insides of we could then go to the Mount on the bypass and miss the traffic! Silly me!
We spent a lovely evening at Carols and she cooked us a lovely roast dinner and a delicious pudding which had some pretty strong rum in 57.7%! Very yummy!
We had a reasonably early night and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow!
WEATHER
Warm, sunny with cloud and rain later 20 degrees
