What wonderful weather for April. Records were broken today for the hottest April day and it was a wonderful day.
We went out for a coffee and then we drove out to a lookout that I have been saying we would visit for years and today we got there. So glad we did as the views were amazing up the coast to the Coromandel and down as far as White Island.
We then drove north of Katikati to Kauri Point Jetty which is a 200mt jetty jutting out into the inner harbour. Lots of people fishing there and the tide was in and the water so calm. Hard to believe that a Samoan man drowned when a stingray pulled him into the water here. It must have been rough weather as it looked so beautiful today.
We then went to the bird gardens and had a lovely lunch sitting amongst the beautiful tropical plants. Such a long time since we have had a day out.
We got back and did a bit of work in the garden getting things ready for packing and I cleared the leaves that have fallen from the olive tree to get it tidy for our leaving party next weekend. There are quite a lot of olives on the tree but I have no idea what to do with them but I think it is a long process anyway so I will leave them for the gardener or the next tenants.
I was so hot when I came back in as I had been working in full sun - very silly.
I finally finished the Thorn Birds and it was very good.
I cooked us some fish for dinner and then we watched Coronation Street.
Jon is off to Christchurch for the day tomorrow.
WEATHER
Sunny 29 degrees.
