Monday

By far the warmest day we have had and no fog.

Once up and ready we went 'up one block' to Starbucks for breakfast, not bad. We had to take our drinks back to the room as they were so hot.

We went down to the lobby to wait for our ride which was late and I had to ask the desk to call and find out where they were!

We finally got on the bus and we knew we would have to change to the proper bus but had we known it was only down the road where we had booked we could have walked quicker!

We saw that a huge cruise ship had docked and it looked like it was coming down the street so far into the walkway it was docked. It looked so much bigger than the ones we get in Tauranga. I must check the size and see how it compares.

We set off on our drive and the driver was very amusing and we enjoyed the ride across the bridge and up to Muir Woods on a very winding road.

The woods were lovely with a lovely pathway through. The trees were bigger than the ones in Rotorua but not so many of them.

We walked back to the cafe and shop and ordered coffee and muffin from some very hostile looking people working there. The muffin was stale as and the coffee so strong and stewed - horrible.

Back to the bus and off to Sausalito which is a pretty town with some very plush looking house boats with small seaplanes tied up nearby. Not the hippy town it once was.

We had a look around the town and then it was time to get the ferry back which, only took 20 and not the 40 minutes as stated. The crossing was very smooth with lovely views of the bay, bridge and Alcatraz. As we got nearer the port we could see yet another huge cruise ship tied up and another due this afternoon.

From the pier we went to get the trolley bus up to Union Square. We had a look around and disparate for the loo were directed to Macys. We also tried to have lunch there but there was a long wait.

Back outside we walked around looking for a place and eventually came across a typical 50s diner. The food was nothing special but it looked great.

Back on our tired feet again we headed to Chinatown. We didn't find much of interest there really as it was all just like China and Chinatown in Sydney so we didn't stay long.

We went to the Cablecar Museum and Jon was by this time very grumpy and tired so we headed off to get the Cablecar back to our hotel.

Unfortunately, it was very busy and we were squashed inside with not much of a view so a bit of a disappointment really. Too many hour it's here now. I hate to think what it must be like in summer. Maybe we are just not used to all these people! I hardly managed to get a photo!

We saw another cruise ship coming in just as we got back.

We went to our room and had a rest before going out for dinner. We went to the local baker on the front. It was a lovely bistro and I had a delicious steak.

We got back to our room about 9.30 and I sorted all our cases out ready for the last leg tomorrow.

WEATHER
Sunny and warm 21 Degrees
