Saturday

I had a little lie in this morning but heard the phone ring and it was Kirsty so I had a quick shower while she chatted to Jon. I then had a long chat to her and a catch up.

We planned to go out for breakfast but ended up going later than we planned but it didn't matter.

We went to one of our favourite places and sat in the sun and had a lovely breakfast.

A quick trip to the supermarket for some bread and then home.

We had a sad message from Jane telling us her rabbit had died and she is very upset. What a week we have had in this family for pets illness!

I made an upside down plum cake to use up a tin of plums I had in the cupboard.

I made a recipe that I had seen on River Cottage with caramel chestnuts (I had a tin in the cupboard) and prunes stewed in cider. You are supposed to layer them with cream/yogurt mix but I just put them in bowls so people could choose how they ate it.

I prepared everything for the bbq and managed to do some cleaning and washing and read my book all before Sharon, Des and Margaret arrived at 4.00.

This was a leftover bbq so we had all the leftover meats that I had frozen so sausages, steak, lamp chops and lamb rump and I grilled some Portobello mushrooms a real mix but it seemed to go down well and there was nothing left.

The puddings went down well, too. As it was such a lovely day we were able to stay out on the deck till late.

I brought out all out bottles of liqueurs to finish up but the bottle of Baileys was the most popular.

We sat chatting till about 11.00 and then Pera came to take them all home.

A quick tidy round the kitchen and now I need to go to bed.

An extra hour in bed tomorrow as the clocks go back.

WEATHER
Sunny and warm 27 degrees
