Mother Nature hit us hard today and reminded us that it 'really is' winter. We woke to heavy skies and very cold, for here!
Jon went across to the Mount for his walk but it was raining before he got there so he just had a coffee and came home.
I baked a fruit cake with the fruit I had left soaking over night in Early Grey tea. I also baked some scones this afternoon. I had a jar of clotted cream that needed to be used so had to make the scones.
We had soup for lunch as it was so cold in the house - only 14 degrees! We had to put the gas heater on.
I have been complaining about how cold it is at night and having to 'get dressed' to go to bed. Jon went out and bought an electric blanket for me. It has two controls, one for either side so he won't roast but I will be very cosy.
We tried the scones with the cream but it really wasn't very nice, not at all like Cornish clotted cream. I guess I will just have to wait till I get home.
We had an early dinner as I had a Lions business meeting to go to. I really didn't feel like going out at all as it was pouring with rain and thundering. They have had lots of snow on the Desert Road and it is now closed so we should be thankful we only have rain.
The last Lions business meeting I went to must have been back in April but it was much the same and we finished early and I was home by 8.15.
Apart from some ironing and crochet that is all I have done today so I am now off to get into our lovely warm bed!
WEATHER
Heavy rain, cloudy, thunder 10 degrees.
