Jon didn't sleep well last night and was in a lot of pain so we were up early and down to reception to ask about a doctor. They called the surgery and kindly rang the driver of the hotel car to take us there. The surgery looked just like a shop with a few plastic chairs in rows. The reception was also the dispensary and the filing system was cards tied with elastic bands in alphabetical order on a shelf. The patients had to write their name on a paper when they arrived and then the receptionist got the card out leaving the bundle in a pile on the floor I suppose to put the card back in after the consultation.
We waited our turn, about half an hour, and then went in to see Dr Cusak who was very nice and spoke good English. He examined Jon's ears and then 'invited' me to 'have a look madam' It would have been rude to refuse so I had to peer into Jon's good ear and then the bad ear. Ugh! I have seen parts of him that he hasn't seen. It looked very nasty and I am not surprised it was painful. He prescribed drops and antibiotics and told us it would be OK to fly as it was an outer ear infection and not an inner ear infection.
We then went back to reception and they gave us the medication and we had to pay 1400 Baht, $70 about £35, not bad I thought. No repeat prescriptions here, they count out pills while you wait. The doctors hours are 8.00 - 19.00 Mon - Fri - 8.00 - 11.00 Sat. They wouldn't like that in UK.
We walked back to the hotel and it was nice to see the streets so quiet as it was still early and no shops open. We called the girls and met for breakfast. On our way to the dinning room I saw a snake slither across the boardwalk in front of us. I don't think we should tell Jane or she will want to leave! We seem to spend a long time over breakfast and do a lot of talking.
We eventually all met at the pool and it was really hot. There are lots of Russian people staying at the hotel and they do like to take photos of lizards and insects and climb over chairs and walls to get their shots!!!! I had a lovely float in the pool on Heather's plastic ring and read my book.
As we had such a late breakfast we were not ready for lunch till late and had a snack by the pool with a few beers. At 3.30 there was a rain shower, very, very hot and sticky so we went back to the room for a shower.
We all met up a bit later to go and play mini golf at the Dino Park (no prizes for guessing what the theme was) just along the road from the hotel. It was a nice park but so very, very hot, we just dripped our way around. However, the golf lessons must have paid off as I won! We were all so hot we went back to the hotel for another shower!!!
Out to Two Chefs again for dinner apart from the food being very good they have fans and the loos have very cold air conditioning and they give you lovely cold towels on arrival and the cocktails are really good. I had pork stir fry with cashews followed by a really yummy panacotta.
On the way back we stopped, once again at the bar where the big TV had football on and had another drink and then back to bed. The days are going by so fast :-(
Hot and steamy first thing then sunny before a long shower then hot again.
