Back to NZ and it is a bit chilly

Not a bad night but we both woke many times and were glad when it was 7.30 and a reasonable to time to get up.

We showered and dressed and then went down for breakfast, Novotel do a very good breakfast.

We packed up and left to drive home.

We had paid for the car park in advance but when Jon put his credit card in to get out they charged him $650 (325GBP). We were on the road by 9.00.

One thing that always impresses us when we get back to NZ is the lack of traffic. Kiwis think it is busy but it is nothing like the UK and our drive down from Auckland is quiet.

The weather is dry but much colder than UK and we have gone from winter to summer and now the first day of spring with lots of daffodils growing by the roadside.

We stopped for coffee at one of our usual stop offs and enjoyed our first Kiwi flat white and it was very good.

We arrived back in Tauranga at 12.00 and were pleased to see our house all in one piece although the grass looked overgrown but on the whole not too bad.

We stopped at the egg lady and vege man on the way and got our nice fresh eggs and some veg.

We came in and unpacked our cases and sorted a few things out and checked emails.

We then went to the supermarket and bought some food for the next couple of days.

We had a sandwich when we got back and afte44r doing a few odds and ends it was time to go and pick up Totty.

I was paying the bill when the kennel maid brought her out and took her to Jon. Bill, kennel owner told me the weather had been very mixed and they had had a frost that morning!

Totty was very pleased to see us but had no bark so had obviously been barking a lot. She sat on my lap in the car and was very, very quiet and we have never seen her like that before. She was very happy to get out of the car once we were home.

In the evening I cooked dinner and it was a disaster. Not sure why, most probably because I was really not hungry - jet lag, missing UK and the girls or whatever but it had a bad effect on what I cooked. I had bought some snapper and cooked it with potatoes and carrots. It looked awful on the plate, the wrong colour, no green and really not very nice. I picked around at it and Jon was not much better and said it was awful. I made him an omelette and salad and he didn't eat much of that either.

We decided to call it a day and went to bed just after 9.00.

Hopefully, I will feel better tomorrow!
