Sunday Leaving UK

Woke normal time and finished packing. I took all the sheets off the bed and washed them.

I had not had a reply from the taxi driver so I rang him and he said he had not received my email, just as well he was free to take us this afternoon!

I went across to see Rene as she had a choose and book appointment to make and I said I would do it. However, when I got there she said she didn't want the appointment which was for her circulation which is bad in her hands. She said they have been like that for years and as she will be ninety this year there is not much point doing anything about them. I said my goodbyes to her and told he I will be back soon.

Jon had a text from Jane telling us they could not get seats together and were both in middle seats rows apart. We feel so sorry for her, things have not gone well for this trip! I hope they can get it sorted for the return trip.

Heather took Jon and I out for coffee to Costa Coffee.

I rang my sister to get the number for my nephew in Haverhill so I could pop down and see the new baby. Joyce told me that Barbara was not well and had gone back to the hospital. She emailed me later to tell me Barbara had a urine infection so is on more medication to clear it. I was glad to get the email just before we boarded our flight.

Heather and I went to Haverhill and the baby is sooo tiny! I had forgotten how tiny they are and she is only five days old. We both had lovely cuddles with her and she slept all the time. What a story they have to tell with such a quick, unplanned home delivery by 'dad'. So glad it all went well for them.

We got back to Newmarket at 3.00 and I finished packing and brought the washing in and put it all away for when we come back.

The taxi came at 4 .30 and we said our goodbyes - the bit I hate the most!

We had a good drive to the airport and made it in an hour and a half.

Check in was quick and we had a fast track pass for security which was very thorough. We were both body searched (Jon had to tell them he had a stoma very quickly as he didn't want to be prodded in the wrong place)  and the normal scanner. Once through the first one we were swabbed for drugs. The queues were long so we were happy we had a pass.

We went to the lounge and I had some lunch which was very good but I didn't feel like any champagne.

We went to the gate and we were selected again for another search of our bags!

We have had the same seats on every flight which is the upstairs bit of the jumbo.

The flight and food was really good a bit bumpy at times but we both managed to sleep for 'seven hours' which is amazing for us.

Monday
We arrived on time and to 32 degrees. Once checked in we went and sat by the pool and I had a swim.

We went and had a drink during 'happy hour' and I was very disappointed that the man was not singing in the bar that night. I was all ready to make a video of him!

We went to the restaurant and I had a nice Thai meal, red curry and Jon had a pizza. Such a shame he has to be careful.

We had an early night ready to our early start tomorrow.
