Monday

We both slept well and woke about 7.30. After a shower we went for breakfast which is down by the pool. Really good breakfast with lovely fresh frui - I am in heaven.

We went out to explore and find a couple of temples our guide had told us about last night. As we were walking along the road a you g Thai man, on holiday from Bangkok, started talking to us and telling us what we should go and see and he was so nice. As we ended our conversation he asked so wht are you going to see and we said we would take his advice and go and find a tuk tuk to see the temples. He very kindly called one over and told the driver all the places to take us and told him to wait and agreed the price of 100bht, $4, £2.50 and off we went.

We had an amazing morning. We went to a beautiful Silver Temple. I could not go in, men only, it was all made of silver, even the roof. We saw the monks in their workshop making all the silver panels.

We then went to another area where there are mant temples and once again I could not go in as I had forgotten to bring something to cover my shoulders. Jon said it was lovely to see everyone giving fruit offerings to the monks and they were then blessed.

We found out about a boat trip which we will go on. Back in our tuk tuk we then went to various craft places and saw silver being made, jade, silk, carpets. Parasols being made and painted and fans.

It was a really good morning and our driver was amazing. We got back to the hotel very hot, sticky and dusty.

We went into the restaurant and had a nice cold beer and some lunch.

We were about to get changed to sit by the pool but a thunder storm came over so back to the air con in our room.

The man we met this morning told us that a lot of monks would be in the temple near our hotel this evening for a special service and that we should go along so we did.

All the monks were there and they were chanting. Not sure what it was all about or for but it was very nice to see.

We then walked around and saw more temples. It is amazing how many there are and you walk into one and there is usually another behind that.

We then followed the leaflet given to by the hotel which is a wal around the area of the hotel and by the end of it I had seen enough temples to last a lifetime and our feet were sore.

Back to the lovely cool room and after a shower and change we went to dinner at the hotel restaurant. Jon was not very hungry and just had a salad and I had stir fry veg with chicken.

It was really good. I ate one chilli by mistake and left the others, about 15 pieces broken up, at the side!

Back to our room for an early night as we are being collected at 7.30 in the morning to go and play with elephants for the day, really excited.

WEATHER
Sunny and hot followed by mid afternoon storm 34degrees
