Got up and ready and after breakfast we took Totty to kennels. I noticed when she was sitting on my lap that she had a lot of soil in her coat on her back. This usually happens when she is in kennels as she must roll in the grass. I felt really bad that I had not noticed it and brushed her - been too busy. I told Bill at the kennels and he said he would bath her - good luck with that!
We went for coffee on the way back and we had a downpour which is the forecast for today so not a good day for driving.
We got home and I started to pack which, once I started, did not take so long and we managed to fit everything in plus a bit more and the booze!
I did a bit of cleaning in between sorting out photos on Facebook. It appears they did upload even though it did't say so. The only way I found out is a friend I had tagged commented which made me look at the albums and I had six empty ones and one with photos so I am not sure what was going on. I managed to upload the second lot, too so they are on now but not published until I can write the descriptions which I will get done.
Jon made lunch and sorted out the rubbish and then it was time to go. I popped in next door to see David and Edwina to ask if they could get the post not that we get much but it is good as he keeps his eye on the place and they have our email.
We left and the sky looked very black and I thought we were in for a rough journey but we were very lucky. We did hit rain at the Bombay Hills about 4.30 and it went dark as night. Just as I thought we had got through it, and the really dark clouds had gone, the heavens opened and you could not see a thing and the lightening was incredible and most people drove very slowly but you always get a few idiots and today was no exception with a few cars flying past us at great speed.
We arrived at the airport hotel and Jon dropped me at the door with the cases and he went to park the car in the long term car park which is not far but as I had no coat and he did I got to stay in the dry!
I checked us in and eventually Jon came back.
We got to our room and had a cup of tea and watched the news.
We went across to the pub in the airport for dinner and had the always very good fish and chips followed by a McFlurry!
We went back to the hotel and got in the lift with a very tall lady who I recognised as one of the Silver Ferns. She didn't know how to use the lift (you need to swipe you room card on a panel to get to your floor) so we showed her and she thanked us and said have a good night. When she got out and we carried on Jon and I looked at each other and said 'isn't she, yes that's right'! It was Irene van Dyke.
Back to our room and we read and watched some TV. I had an email to confirm the taxi that will pick us up next Friday so all sorted now. A few emails from Heather about what we want for food when we get back.
I can't use my phone after tonight as I have not renewed my bundle which is due tomorrow but as I will not be here it is not worth it as roaming charges will cost too much. Hopefully I can get a SIM card for my phone in UK and I will at least have a phone.
Well it is bedtime now so an early night for us. Our flight leaves at 13.10 tomorrow so we will check in about 10.00 and go to the lounge to use their computer and I will relax as all the baggage will, hopefully, have gone through!
WEATHER
Sunny spells but some heavy showers 20 degrees.
