We were both us bright and early this morning and ready to go, well sort of!!!
You think you have everything under control and then the day arrives and there is still so much to do and pack.
The removal men arrived at 8.30 as agreed and they worked so hard loading everything with great care. When they arrived they brought in a big box of homemade Afghan biscuits and gave them to Jon and said they were to have with afternoon tea once we got to the new house. How nice is that?
The worked through the morning and got the van loaded and said they would need to do two trips. Jon went with them to unload and I stayed at the house with my friend Carol who had kindly agreed to come and help - she spent the whole morning pushing the vacuum cleaner around and cleaned from top to bottom and I will be forever grateful to her.
Once the men had gone I went down to the garage and brought everything up to the front of the house so it would be easier to load but it was very hard work.
Totty was so good bless her. She was very anxious with all the coming and going and really didn't know what was going on and hardly left my side all morning.
Finally the men came back and were very impressed with all my hard work. I think if I need a job they might consider me!!!!
Once everything was loaded Carol and I locked up. I had put Totty in the front of the car and normally she jumps about everywhere but she just sat there and looked at me as if to say 'you are not going without me, I am staying here in this car'.
We got to the house and I let her in and she was running around and sniffing everywhere. I was back and forth unloading the car and once she managed to get and and follow me - Jon was supposed to be watching her but he was making sandwiches for us and men can't multitask!! Fortunately, she only came down the street to me and we saw a lady walking her two dogs and so she had a sniff.
Carol and I sat with our sandwiches and a drink and it was very hard to start again. I showed Carol around the house and garden and she loved it just as much as we do.
Carol left as there was not much she could do without having to ask where things go etc but she had done more than enough.
I then started putting things away and Jon did bits in small bursts with a rest in between. I managed to get the kitchen more or less sorted but it is going to take time to get things in the right place and we don't have as much cupboard space as we did so maybe we should have a clear out. Considering we came down here with very little we now an an awful lot.
Jon went out for fish and chips and I think it was the best I have had since we came here. Either that or I was very hungry.
We watched some TV and saw a lovely sunset through the window of the dinning room.
Hopefully, we will have a good sleep tonight ready to unpack more boxes tomorrow! AND I hope Totty sleeps tonight.
