I didn't wake till 7.35 this morning so really had to get a move on. I managed to shower, have breakfast and get the dog out for her walk all by the time I had to leave for the Red Cross.
As soon as I got to the shop Les was so excited as Bianca, her daughter, had gone into labour in the early hours of the morning and so she was beside herself with excitement.
We had a busy morning in the shop and you could tell that I had been away as the children's section was a bit of a mess which I sorted out and now it looks very nice again.
Lisa, Bianca's replacement, came in and gave me my 'volunteer's' present. They had a get together while I was away and I got a very nice pot of NZ body cream and some chocolates which was very nice.
I came home and Jon arrived for lunch but Heather was having early lunch so went to a cafe for hers. We had some soup and then Jon went back to work. Jon and I received a nice birthday card from James' mum and dad. I don't know why it took such a long time to get here as it was posted early.
I called Margaret after lunch and we had a chat.
I then got stuck into sorting out the washing and getting the ironing done. I watched Dancing on Ice while I did it. I was going to take Tot out for a walk but it came over very black and we had a lot of rain. A little later it came over REALLY black and we had the most amazing thunderstorm with hail and so much rain. The dog was in a real stat and I lost the signal for the TV. I had a call in the middle of the storm, just as I was worrying about Jon and Heather coming home, from Tauranga hospital which really gave me a fright but she was just checking something about my eligibility for treatment and told me I need to take my passport to my next appointment.
Jon came in about 6.00 and told me the roads were like rivers and it had taken him a long time to get home. Fortunately, Heather had gone for a drink after work and the weather was not so bad over at the Mount. We called her and told her to wait before trying to get home. By the time she did come home the roads were all clear again.
We eventually had our fish and chips and then caught up with more TV. One day we will be back on track.
WEATHER
Cloudy with sunny spells this morning and HEAVY rain and thunderstorms this afternoon 16 degrees
