A hard walk up the Mount

Once again it was cold first thing this morning but the sun was out so it soon warmed up.

I had a quick chat to my sister, Joyce, this morning as I haven't spoken to her for ages so that was nice to catch up.

I took the dog out for a quick walk and then went over to the Mount to meet Les. Since the heavy rain in February some of the tracks up the Mount have been closed due to slips so the only track to the top that is open is the most difficult one. It is mostly steps and it kills your legs. I had changed into a long sleeved top before I left home as it was cold but I soon regretted it as I got so hot. It was a lovely day though and the sun was shinning on the first day of winter and Tauranga topped the chart for the hottest spot in the country. Although very steep the track is much faster to the top than the others and we were soon enjoying the views.

After a little sit down and a chat to recover we then set off back down which was so much easier. We then went for a coffee and shared a well deserved scone!

I then went to have a haircut at 12.00 before going home for lunch and I arrived at the same time as Jon and Heather - oops!

After lunch I bought some books online for my eReader but then couldn't upload them so need to look into that before we go on holiday.

I waited for the men from Genera to bring the firewood but as they hadn't arrived by 4.30 I took Tot out. I saw the men on the way and by the time I got back they were chopping up the huge lumps that Jon had not been able to. They were very big men and I would not like to meet them on a dark night. I can't believe Jon is their boss they would make six of him they are so big and covered in tattoos. I hope he never upsets them!!! They stacked all the wood very nicely so we now have more than enough for winter we just need to get it all into the garage before we have rain or it will all get wet.

Heather didn't feel like going for a walk tonight and I was quite pleased about that as my trip up the Mount was more than enough walking for one day.

I cooked a nice fish chowder for dinner tonight. Jon and I enjoyed it but Heather made some pasta as she didn't like it.

WEATHER
Cold first thing then warm and sunny 19 degrees.
