I had a lot to do today so was up early to get on. I went into the office and opened the blinds as I do every morning and when I looked down into the drive I saw a tiny puppy there crying. I watched it for a minute and it ran down our drive into the car porch and I could hear it crying.
I quickly dressed and went out but it hid under Jon's car. I had no idea where it could have come from and seemed to tiny to have walked far. I got it some food and it ate it but would not let me get hold of it and ran back under the car. I tried with more food but it was too scared.
I went in and rang the SPCA and they said they would come out in 45 minutes.
Jon needed to go to work so needed to get the car out. I tried to push the puppy out with a broom and then told Jon to start the engine to see if it would come out or at least go under my car. I went by the front wheel and I managed to grab it and wrap it in the towel I had.
The poor thing was so scared and just snuggled into me. Jon left and I took it indoors. Totty had a sniff and a bark and then walked away in disgust!
I intended to put it into a box I had but it was so comfy in my arms and it fell asleep so I just sat with it. Poor little thing. I decided to call him Noel. Not sure if he was abandoned or he had walked out of one of the houses up the street but I would not go knocking on their doors as they are somewhat suspicious of white people.
The SPCA arrived, a man and a woman and they thought he was only about six weeks old but he had managed to eat all the food I gave him. They too wondered if it was from up the road but I don't know how you could not miss one of your puppies and not be out in the street looking for it. Sad as it is I think he will stand a better chance of finding a good, loving home from the SPCA than staying with the people who had not cared enough to look for him. The thought that he was actually abandoned on our drive is just too horrible. I was quite sad to see him go, such a cute little chat.
Well by now I was really behind with the things I had to do so got a move on and rushed around like a mad woman.
I went out to buy bread and strawberries and got back and hung out my washing and nearly got blown away but it was so hot.
Viv and Margaret arrived at 12.00 and we had lunch and a good long chat and
Christmas crackers. Viv is now back living here but will go back to look after her grandchildren when her daughter, who is training to be a midwife, has to do her practical course work so it will be nice to have her around again.
Once they left I sorted some packing out but I have got very far yet.
Jon came home and sorted some things out and wrapped my present which is a tiny box or two!! He then went off to his class and I made some dinner for me and watched the TV and did the ironing that I washed today. I haven't been this up to date with ironing for a long time.
Need to go to bed now and tomorrow I have the worst job in the world to do - taking Totty to kennels. She already knows as we have the cases out so her ears and tail are down and she does not look like a happy dog.
I wonder how Noel is tonight - bless him.
WEATHER
Sunny but windy 25 degrees.
