We had a lot of rain overnight but it had stopped by 7.00. It was cloudy with some sun but very humid.
Jon left for work and he will go to Auckland about 4.00 this afternoon and stay overnight.
I finally managed to call my friend Sonia who I haven't spoken to since I was in the UK in May. She has just moved into her new house that her husband built and promises to send me some photos!!
I got ready to go out to the Red Cross coffee morning and lunch. I arrived before Patsy and got chatting to a lady who goes out to disaster areas and it was very interesting to chat to her.
The new CEO was there and gave a talk which was very interesting and it made me realise that the retail side of things that I help in is very important as without us they would not have the money to spend but I also realised what a huge operation it all is. The Red Cross got a million dollars into the Philippians within a couple of days of the disaster and as they have their own network they are able to get things moving very fast and every cent raised is used for projects unlike some other charities. They are also well respected and are known not to take bribes and nor will they give them. It made me feel quite proud to have been a part of it for the last five years.
The man that gave the speech on Sunday also gave the same speech but he was helped out by his wife and a slide show so it was a little more interesting and put together than on Sunday.
We ended with service awards before we had a very nice buffet lunch.
I came straight home and got stuck in to writing my Christmas cards until it was time to go to my aqua class.
The sky looked pretty dark at times but we managed to get the class done without any rain. I drove home just as we had a heavy shower. The weather has not been as bad as forecast and so far no thunder but they are still saying it is on the way. I really hate this humidity though.
Jon rang to say he had arrived safely and was meeting up with one of the people he used to work with for a drink. He said they had no rain in Auckland either so not sure where all this rain is that was on the forecast!
I made some dinner and watched some TV before finishing my Christmas cards. I will just need to get up to Bethlehem to post them to get the special stamp on them.
WEATHER
Overcast and humid 25 degrees
