There seems to be no rhyme or reason as far as Bertie is concerned!! Jon had no reaction whatsoever last night yet last Wednesday it was awful and we just cannot understand why and we probably never will.
We didn't wake till gone 9.00!! I can't remember the last time we slept in like that.
I coked us some poached eggs for breakfast in my new disposable poaching bags! I have a real problem poaching eggs and try so many different methods. The bags were OK but still very messy.
I was due to go to the Red Cross Christmas lunch today and had to be there for 12.00 so only had time to get myself ready and leave. Jon went out for a coffee and to the library while I was out.
I got stuck in traffic as there was a road closure on the flyover. I should have gone through Tauranga as I knew it was happening.
I arrived at the club for lunch and there were about 60 of us. Les arrived and we sat with Fiona and her husband. The meal was good but it is always lacking in atmosphere.
We had a speaker who works out on any emergency he is asked to go to and he spoke about his trips. He, and his wife, are on stress leave at the moment as they managed to escape a kidnapping attack in Afghanistan recently but his wife was shot and the bullet hit her in the head but didn't do too much damage thankfully. They are off to Nairobi for a year at the end of December and that sounds much better than Afghanistan.
The lunch was over by 2.00 and I decided to go home via Tauranga to miss the road works - wrong!! They were also repairing the harbour bridge and one lane was closed so I got stuck in more traffic! Not my day for traffic.
I finally got to Fraser Cove shops as I wanted to buy a few Christmas presents and look for a disposable waterproof camera to take to the Cook Islands but it is proving to be very difficult to find one. I did find a nice dress and swimsuit though! I think I will have to look online for a camera.
When I got home Jon was sitting indoors as it was too hot to sit on the deck.
We spent another pleasant afternoon doing nothing. I like weekends like this.
As I had eaten a big lunch I just had a snack for dinner and Jon had been to Nosh Deli and bought one of the huge fishcakes for his dinner which he cooked so I had an easy night - again!
We watched some TV and now I am off for an early night and hopefully wake up early and catch Heather to wish her a happy birthday and get my housework done before it gets too hot for me to bother and I might just go to the beach for an hour!! I need to buy Christmas cards, too but not too many as I am cutting back this year as it costs too much and I would rather give to a charity.
WEATHER
Sunny 26 degrees
