Surprisingly, we both slept very well last night despite the noise of a big city.
We were up and down for breakfast by 8.00 and I was very pleasantly surprised at how good the breakfast was. Lots of juices to choose from and I had some very good muesli with fresh fruit salad and berries topped with passion fruit yogurt - yummy. I had some apple juice and tried a spurilina smoothie - not my idea of a smoothie - followed by bacon and toast with a cup of tea. All in all not bad for a hotel.
Jon's mood is still pretty low and he really isn't talking much. We finished packing and checked out and they brought the car round to the entrance and we set off before the forecast rain started!
The drive back was pretty quiet and I know Jon is upset at the girls leaving and what he is going through but shutting me out is not the answer. It is very difficult.
We stopped at The Woodcutters Cafe, a new cafe on the way home near Paeroa. We got out of the car and Jon was very emotional and said he 'needed' a hug - 32 years of marriage and he has never been like this. I have to remind myself that it is him that is going through all of this and I am just a spectator!!
We had a coffee sitting in the sun and then carried on home. the rain started just outside Katikati so not too far away.
We got back and the house was very quiet, no girls and no Totty till four o'clock!!!
We unpacked and then I made lunch and then Jon sorted out the laptop in preparation for him to work from home when he needs to. i stripped the beds and put all the sheets in the wash though I am not sure how I will get them dry as the forecast is for rain tomorrow.
We packed up the recycling and took that to the transfer station on the way to collect Tot. We were the first there waiting for the gates to open. Totty was very pleased to see us but seems to have a problem when I pick her up as she yelps. Not sure if she has had a bit of a fight so will have to check her over tomorrow when she has settled down.
I have been checking the girls flights since we got back and they still have so far to go and must be fed up.
I made dinner and then we watched TV.
Jon has gone to bed and I just checked on the flight and it looks like it will be about 20 minutes late. So hard to believe how much we have done and they are still sitting on a plane.
I will go to bed as soon as I know they have landed as we need to go to the Cancer Clinic tomorrow for the chemo assessment.
WEATHER
A good start in Auckland but showers in Tauranga 18 degrees
