Tuesday

We got down for breakfast before 9.00 this morning. Still got my bad back but have phoned the osteopath, Fiona, and made an appointment for Wednesday morning.

We paid the bill and set off to meet a man down at Ruakaka Marina which once we found it was lovely. It is a new development area but has slowed due to the recession but what is there at the moment is lovely and if it ever gets finished it will be a lovely spot to live and looks across to the lovely bays we visited yesterday.

We had a coffee with this man and he was saying how awful it is that Jon has gone. He said that before he came to Genera they were a very unprofessional cowboy outfit and always did things on the cheap and no doubt it will go back to being like that but it is not our problem.

We set off to drive to Devonport in north Auckland to drop off the balls and bricks to Helen that I collected for her last week.

I must say I am glad I don't live in Auckland it is sooooo busy and congested. We found her house and had a cup of tea but couldn't stay long as we needed to get back for Totty. Helen's little girl is so sweet and is really tiny but very happy.

We stopped for a sandwich at a Wild Bean Cafe and then carried on. We went to the supermarket to get some fish for dinner and then went to the kennels.

The girl brought Totty out and went back for her bed and then said Totty had wet in her bed but she hadn't known about it or she would have washed it. She said she must have only just done it as she had been out in the yard all afternoon. I thought it strange as she never wees in her bed and she has also told us that last time when we had left her for one night. she put the bedding in a bag and we paid and left.

We put the bag in the car but the smell was so bad we had to drive home with the window open.

Once home I took the bad into the garage to wash the bedding and when I took it out it was completely sodden with urine and smelt terrible so there is no way it was only just done. I am not sure how long it had been wet and she had had to sleep in it or why she wees in her bed there. There is one thing for sure she won't be going back there again. I will take her to the one we used to use and even though she doesn't like it (she doesn't like any kennels really) at least I know she is well looked after and they always clean her before she comes back. Poor little girl needs a bath tomorrow.

When Jon went into the garage he saw the fridge door was open and had been for the five days we were away so the back wall of the fridge was covered in an inch thickness of ice with the bottles frozen into it!!! Just what I needed to come home to. I had to turn it off and empty everything and throw away all my jars of stuff that had been in there, what a pain!!!

We unpacked and I put some washing on and then cooked the fish but I couldn't eat it and all I wanted was a piece of bread and butter.

We watched some TV and then went to bed really upset about the dog.
