I can't believe I slept right through till nearly 8.00 this morning - boy was I tired!!
We had breakfast and didn't hang about and were off on the road by 9.00.
It is ANZAC day today which is like Remembrance Day in UK and is a national holiday here so we were surprised to see so many cafes open along the road. There were also a lot of policemen out in cars on traffic duty. I think we saw more this morning on our drive home than we saw in the whole of the south island.
We stopped for a coffee and then go on and hit the dessert road but no nice views today of Mt Ruapehu, too much low cloud.
We got stuck behind a truck for miles and miles and as there are no passing lanes all we could do was sit behind him along with about twenty other cars. It might have been nice had he pulled over.
We stopped in Rotorua for a quick lunch and then got on again.
We stopped at the supermarket just before home to get some dinner and we finally arrived home just before 3.00. Oh it is nice to be back.
We unpacked and I put the first load of washing on and sorted things out.
We went to the kennels to get Totty and she seems fine but very happy to be home.
I made a batch of Anzac biscuits to take into the shop tomorrow as I have no cake left in the freezer.
I popped in to see out neighbour and to get the post. They told me they had noticed part of our gutter was down and so David fixed it back up. Luckily for us it was the night before the big storm here. Not sure where all the water would have gone had he not fixed it. We are lucky to have nice neighbours.
I brought our post back along with a box with our jackets in from the hotel. I called the hotel to ask them how much and they said they had use my credit card details and the slip was in the box. So all sorted and very efficient of them.
I cooked dinner and did more and more washing and got most of it dried so now I just have to do the ironing tomorrow!!!
Started to upload the photos. I am not sure I will get them all sorted before we go to UK.
WEATHER
Sunny spells with a few showers.
