This is by far the worst Christmas holiday weather we have had in the last four years and there seems no end to it.
We woke to rain again and rushed about getting ready as we had to get Totty to the kennels by 10.00 and it is a 45 minute drive so we had to leave by 9.15 and we just about made it.
Totty was very quiet in the car for a change and sat at my feet and was happy to be covered with a towel and she hardly moved - maybe I should have been doing that all this time.
We arrived at the kennels and I am happy to say they are really lovely people and took to Tot straight away and the man was happy to pick her up and carry her in his arms off to the 'little dog enclosure' which is by their house so they can keep an eye on them. The girl on reception asked me to fill in the form and needed next of kin and I told her we had nobody here in NZ. She said it was just in case anything happened to us, which she hoped it wouldn't, and they needed to know what to do with the dog. Don't worry she said, I'll keep her!!! If Tot is OK there I will probably use them when we go to the UK in May for Jane's wedding.
We carried on to Rotorua and thought we would visit the Agrodome which is a sheep farm and has a show of sheep shearing and dog trails as well as a farm tour. When we arrived it was very wet and we could see no point in going on a tractor ride to see animals in the rain so we left and hopefully we will get to visit another day.
We went into Rotorua and round the shops as there was little else to do in the rain.
We found a nice place to have lunch and then we drove home still in the rain!!
We had a cup of tea and I started to teach Heather how to knit again. This time we started with just ten stitches and once she got the hang of it we started the hat. She is doing really well considering she is left handed and we have managed to do the rib part of the hat so we will take it with us and she can do a little each day.
I have decided I might start knitting again as I find it quite relaxing, nothing too difficult to get me back into it.
We started to sort out our things to take with us and Jon and Heather went out for fuel and I cooked dinner and did some washing and drying.
After dinner we finished packing and now it is time for bed and hopefully we might get some better weather for our trip.
WEATHER
Overcast and showers all day 22 degrees
