Dentist day

We are having some very odd weather this year. We woke to thick mist again this morning and I could see less than yesterday across the bay.

I had to leave early to get to my dental appointment which wasn't that bad. He is very gentle and I had one filling replaced and the outside of one tooth 'patched up' at a cost of one hundred pounds!!!!!

When I left the surgery I was surprised it was not more numb than it was and I was able to go and have a coffee and a scone as I had had no breakfast.

I then hit the shops and the post office. Next year will be emails to say Happy Christmas as it is just far too expensive. I love having the cards but I think the money will be better used for a charity.

I managed to find some presents for Jon and I hope he likes them and I got a few other bits and bobs and had a lovely time. I spent ages looking for a present for the secret Santa tonight but finally found two little tea light holders which were hand painted and quite cute.

I was about to go back to the car park and walked past a shop I like and saw a lovely tunic top and a lovely light, knitted cardigan. I tried both on and liked them so bought them!!

Then I really did go back to the car.

I went across to the Mount and Nosh Food to get my plate back and to buy some meat. The girl at the checkout asked me which Pavlova was mine and I told her the one with the hazelnuts. She said that was lovely and had been her favourite and she had taken some home. She said there were a lot of entries and I told her I was glad she liked it and it was good as I had not tasted it. I don't know why we couldn't have got them back, the staff must have all been very full of pavlova.

I went to the hospice op shop and had a look around as I need some 'things' for the bathrooms to go on the walls. I found a nice shell tile and a glass soap dish. I also found a lovely gold plated orchid in a frame similar to the one I got at the Red Cross. I paid $10 for it but I know they are selling on trademe for $45, it is really pretty. This one is from Singapore and the other one is from Hawaii.

I had a snack for lunch and watched Neighbours and was just about to watch the final one I have recorded and my friend called to invite me over for drinks tomorrow evening which will be nice. She is going to visit family in Oz for Christmas so won't be around for the holidays.

I made a spaghetti sauce for Jon's dinner or he can have one of the little steaks I bought today for his dinner.

I then got myself ready for our Lions dinner. It is so humid at the moment and it is hard to decide what to wear. By the time I was leaving the house we had a heavy downpour. Jon arrived home just as I was leaving.

The dinner was very good, ham, roast lamb, lovely selection of veg and a salad. We had fresh fruit salad for pudding and Christmas pud. One of the ladies had made a Christmas cake to have with our coffee but I brought mine home as I was full to bursting. No wine though as I was driving.

I read my Fifty Shades of Gray poem and it went down very well. One of the new members, Laurie from UK, plays the piano and played for us and we 'tried' to sing carols but it was really hard going and very slow but the thought was there.

I got home and had a coffee and now I am off to bed with Fifty Shades of Grey but so far I am only on the second chapter.

WEATHER
