I really was glad when it was time to get up today. I was having trouble sleeping anyway but Tot kept getting up and scratching her bottom - bloody anal glands!!!! I was awake every hour till three o'clock and then I didn't sleep till 6.00 and was in a nice sleep when she woke again!
I finally got up, showered and was waiting for the vet to open to make an appointment when Heather called and we had a chat. Once off the phone I called the vet and took Tot along to see him. He said her anal glands were fine and he thought the irritation was probably the same problem she has been having on her leg and to treat it the same. He gave her an injection to kick start the treatment and hopefully we will all be able to get some sleep tonight!!
I got back and Jon and I took Tot out for a walk before we went into Tauranga for coffee. Such a lovely morning to be sitting outside in the sunshine.
We then went over to the library as Jon needed to change his books and I got some vegetarian cookbooks out as I am trying to get us on a 'not so much meat' diet.
We went to the supermarket on the way home and for NZ it was really busy and we had to queue!!!
We had lunch and then Jon went into the garden and I watched some TV as I was too tired to do much else.
We had some nice lamb for dinner with couscous and we talked about the options open to Jon. He says he does not want the stoma without first talking it through with the consultant and knowing the options. I can understand that but it frightens me to think he might refuse it all together.
It is really a strange feeling knowing what we do but we still have to live each day and do 'normal' things. I never really thought about it before and when people tell you they have cancer you say sorry and get on with your own life but it is so different when it is you.
