I was wide awake at 6.30 and thought I would get up and suddenly it was 7.25!! How did that happen? I shot out of bed and into the shower before Jon came up for his shower.
I didn't have time to take Totty out this morning but she got her 'after walk treat' and was happy.
I arrived at work early for a change and we got stuck in to putting out new stock although it is mostly local donations and some of it is not very nice. We have a sale in a couple of weeks and then the winter changeover at the beginning of April.
I went across to the bar for our coffee and the people who own it are from Thailand and very nice people. It struck me as strange today though as they are selling 'original recipe hot X buns'. Since when did hot X buns come from Thailand!! I asked them if he really did make them himself and he said yes and they did look very good and were much cheaper than the other bakers around.
We had a new lady training in the shop this morning and I know her from one of the other Lions groups and have done the daffodil phoning with her and she is extremely loud but she was on her best behaviour this morning. She only has one arm and the other arm has been amputated or maybe not grown just below her elbow. However, it doesn't stop her from doing anything and she says she is a farmer and even drives a tractor. She did well hanging the stock out but when it came to using the pricing gun which has a sharp needle on the end it was difficult for her and I didn't want her to stab herself with the needle (we have to change the needle if we stab ourselves in case we infect anyone) and she was trying to use her stub to hold it and it was not working but she was determined to do it. Between us we managed and didn't draw blood but I decided to take the gun away from her as I couldn't bear to watch her do it again. I do take my hat off to her though.
Les was going to Auckland to see her son and grandson and needed to get the bus at 12.30 and had asked me to take her to the bus stop. Midori was not in today and I was worried about leaving Sharon alone but fortunately Carol popped in and said she would stay while I was out. I was back in ten minutes so not too long. As I had to park on the other side of the road I went into the cafe and bought some hot x buns to take home.
Fiona came in at 1.00 and invited Sharon and I to her house on Tuesday for afternoon tea so I will go there before my aqua aerobics class.
I left the shop and went to the hairdresser and had my eyebrows done first and then my hair.
I bought some cards on the way back to the car and then some beer from the supermarket on the way home.
I was a bit hungry when I got back as I had had no lunch and it was nearly 4.00 and Jon was home so we had a cup of tea and a hot x bun.
Janice, one of my Lion friends, gave me some knitted squares last night and asked me if I could crochet them together to make a blanket and I said I would so I started that tonight. More difficult than it should have been as the pieces are not the same size so I have had to add bits of crochet on but I am sure the children in China will be happy with a cosy blanket and won't mind the mix of knit and crochet or the random colours!!
I got my things ready for tomorrow as we need to leave early to get down to Mt Ruapehu. The forecast now says showers in the afternoon. Sods law really as we didn't see anything last time we went due to snow so fingers crossed the rain won't spoil it tomorrow.
WEATHER
Cloudy start followed by sunny 24 degrees
