Red Cross day today and the sun is shinning again.
I spent most of my time tidying a stack of pillowcases and I put them all in neat piles - all the pinks together, all the blues together etc and it all looked very good. I am sure it won't last long. I then moved on to the toys and sorted them all out. There was a huge collection of old McDonald toys most of which were broken - why do people bother to donate them and why does the processing room bother to send them up to the shop in bits!
An old lady came into the shop and bought a selection of teddies to give to some poor children. She was a lovely Scottish lady and we had a long chat about England and what it is like now to when she lived there in 1956. she told me how NZ has changed and she says not all for the better. When I served her at the till it came to $9.50 and she gave me a $20 bill and 50cents and I should have given her $11 change oops I only gave her a $10 bill and to add insult to injury one of the other girls told me that all cuddly toys were on special at half price! She said she didn't mind and paid the full price. I don't think I am very good at shop work! She paid $10.50 and should only have paid $4.75
After the shop I went to the supermarket and rushed home to find a message on the answerphone to say the board meeting was going on over lunch and Jon would not be home - phew! I had bought some lovely hot, roast gammon for lunch so I had to enjoy it on my own!
Fish and chips tonight - not sure what Heather is going to eat on Friday nights when we have our fish?
