I heard today that the hail was so bad and so thick they were using surfboards on the Mount beach as snowboards. The roof on part of the shopping centre at Bayfair collapsed with the weight of the hailstones and up to 30% of the kiwi fruit could be ruined, it is absolute devastation in Te Puke for the farmers. There were also many water spouts over Papamoa. Everyone keeps telling me it is not normal for this time of year!
My car had to have a WOF (warranty of fitness), MOT, today I went to meet Jon at the office and we went along to the garage to have it done. It is a special garage that only does WOFs and they are very quick and very thorough and very polite. The customer services here in NZ are really good and a lot of UK shops and business could learn a lot from the attitude over here - they are here to serve you and do so with a smile. Glad to say my car passed.
I went off and had a coffee when it was done and a look around the shops before going home for lunch.
It was a business meeting for Lions tonight but no dinner so I had to eat at 5.30!!! Janice picked me up and she told me about the accident on the Hamilton road on Sunday as she had been caught up in the traffic coming back from Hamilton and she told me a car had gone off the road and into the river but that was all she knew.
The business meeting was just like a Ladies Circle business meeting, lots to discuss. I am going to be inducted in two weeks time at the next dinner meeting.
It was quite cold when we came out of the meeting, 8 degrees. I said to Jon I wish I had been born a squirrel and then I could hibernate!
Had to have a cup of coffee and a biscuit when I got in as dinner seemed a long time ago!
I hope the weather warms up soon.
