Unfortunately, the people from one of the other cottages have the parking spot behind our cottage and as they did not arrive till yesterday it has not been a problem - just a car sitting there. However, this morning at 7.00 they went out and woke us starting the car. I hope they don't go out every morning at that time. They came back at eight and then sat with the engine running and radio on while they put the roof back (convertible) on! They are also using our garden as a shortcut to their cottage and pass our bedroom, bathroom and kitchen windows and then across our deck. I will have to make sure I am always dressed or the curtains/widows are closed.
As we were up so early we were out early and went driving and sightseeing. We went down to Kingston, all of five minutes away, to see the old cemetery and gaol ruins. There are some very old headstones there and some sad stories. It is the only place that has been under British rule where convicts are buried alongside officers.
We wanted to get a coffee but the bar there was closed. I am not surprised this island has gone bust. It is the busiest time of year for them but half the places are closed for most of the week!
We went back into the town and had coffee and then carried on to more pretty places passing lots of wandering cows along the way. We went down and saw more sharks when they were bringing the fish in. We have been told a ship is due in tomorrow so we look forward to seeing that being unloaded, it usually takes them two days as all the cargo has to be transferred to smaller boats as there is no harbour.
We came back into town and went to Hillis for lunch, our landlady had given us a half price voucher. We had a lovely sitting in their very pretty garden. AND my first lunchtime beer!
We then went down to the beach and I had a swim and Jon had a sleep under the new sunshade so both of us were happy. There was a class from the school having their swimming lesson there, lucky young people.
We got back and had a cup of tea and a shower before being picked up at 6.00 for the progressive dinner. The food was a big disappointment but the people and houses we went to were very nice.
We got back at 9.30 so it looks like another early night and fingers crossed our neighbours have a lie in tomorrow!
WEATHER
Sunny and hot. Mid 20s I think!
