Why did I choose to make my Christmas cake on the hottest day we have had so far. I had to have the oven on for four hours and it was very hot. On the plus side the cake turned out very well and smells good. I have had to wrap it carefully in baking paper, then foil and put it in a plastic bag. I am becoming obsessed with cockroaches. I found two in the oven the other day so now I always have to check it before I turn it on. Ugh I hate them!
Apart from making the cake I did my housework and washing and got the ironing done. I had to give the shower a good clean. It never ceases to amaze me how dirty showers get and they have all those little nooks and crannies where the seals are. An old toothbrush does a good job and there is a lot of satisfaction when it is done.
I met Findlay and his owner this morning and had a chat to him. He is such a lovely boy. He has just finished uni in Christchurch, he did engineering. He was telling me that he wants to go and work in Spain as he spent a year there and really liked it. He was in Andalucia but he is not sure where he would like to go back to. Totty and Findlay get on so well.
Made a good chilli for dinner tonight.
