Well, what a difference a day makes! I had a text late last night to say Jon was feeling much better and was sitting up in bed reading his book! I was able to go to bed and have a good sleep.
I was woken by another text from Jon at 7.40 saying could I bring him a coffee and a muffin and also a coffee for Jenny, the nurse! I didn't expect that!
I did some housework as it was a mess with dog hairs and dead insects and it was annoying me. I managed to get the washing out and all before 10.00.
I stopped at a café and got the coffee and a muffin and went in to the hospital.
Jon looked so much better and more like himself. He enjoyed his coffee and muffin and I gave the coffee to Jenny who was very pleased and gave me a hug and said she was glad to see Jon looking so much better.
I stayed for an hour and then went home and started preparing his lunch. I have decided to cook his main meal at lunchtime and take him a sandwich in the cooler bag for his tea. This means one set of preparing and then I don't have to rush up there in time for tea and he can eat it when he wants. This is subject to change!!
I took his lunch up and he was sitting in a chair reading and looked quite relaxed. I think he has got his head round the fact that he is not going anywhere till he is properly better.
He ate all his lunch and enjoyed it and we sat chatting. When I left for my lunch he walked me to the lift.
I got home and had my lunch and spent a very relaxing time watching TV and looking for baby knitting patterns as I thought I ought to get knitting something for our grandson!
I rang my friend Les as she had left a message on my phone. She does not have a land line so I used my phone card to call her and spoke about 20 minutes and it cost more than five dollars. I spoke to my friend Mary in England last night for about an hour and a half and it didn't even cost two dollars!!
I went back to the hospital at 6.00 and he was still reading and I am glad to say no rise in his temperature all day.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that the infection has been caused by a nick in the bowel during the repair op and as he was on antibiotics for the urine infection that kept it at bay but once they finished it came back with a vengeance. The CT scan shows that there is no bowel outside the muscle so all the swelling must have been the abscess so hopefully it should go down. At the moment he has that many tubes and bags attached to his tummy it looks like a plumbing experiment gone wrong!
The registrar came to see him as Mark had called and asked him to check on Jon and he was pleased with the vast improvement and with the way it is now draining and Mark will be in tomorrow and we will find out more. Hopefully, and all fingers crossed here, that will be it and he will just need to regain his strength and recover until he is well enough to travel.
I cannot believe the difference in him and am amazed at how he has bounced back so fast.
I left at 7.00 and got home and was just about to water the plants and had my dinner cooking when Margaret and Sharon called to see how he was.
I finally sat down to my dinner at eight o'clock and it is the first meal I have had since I don't know when and I really enjoyed it.
I watched some TV and did some knitting.
WEATHER
